My cat was on my space heater in my kicthen he jumped off he paw got stuck in the grill on top of the space heater. He ran off limping and hide under the couch. I examined his paw closely and noticed his outer nail pointing outwards and the skin torn between his paw. He isn't showing any signs of pain and purrs when I pet him. I gave him some food under the couch and he is eating fine. I plan on taking him to the vet tomorrow, What can they do for him with such a small bone possilby being broken? My main concern is the skin tear between his nails, but it isn't bleeding. Has anyone experienced any injuries like this? Is there anything that I can do for him in the time being? Looking for help

Thanks
Ernie

If he isnt bleeding I think he will be fine until tomorrow but if you are worried bring him to a 24 hour emergency room animal hospital. I dont know where you are from but if you live in NYC by any chance there is really good one out on long island in plainview and a decent one in jamaica.

I am not too worried, he isn't meowing or moaning in pain and still seems happy when I pet him(purring) I will still take him tomorrow

I think taking him to your regular vet in the morning is a fine idea. The emergency vet is never a wrong decision but in this case your cat will not be harmed by waiting until tomorrow.

Also just a quick note- purring does not always mean the cat is contented. They purr when they are scared or in pain as well as when they are relaxed.

Awe... poor kitty. Is he walking on his paw okay?

I was advised by a vet to bath open wounds in warm salt water. Think this is supposed to help clean the wound.

I got my cat from the vet today. His claw was broken inside on the back paw and he needed to get stiches and 1 nail declawed. He is doing fell but having trouble getting used to the bandage on his foot. It will come off tuesday and the stiches come out in 2 weeks. Glad he is home

My husband & my cat were horsing around and she got under his feet and before he could stop he stepped down on her left front paw, So we take her to a 24 hour vet *this was at midnight* and sure enough its broken. Well we ended up spending waaay more than we could afford to fix her up. Now they want us to take her for a check up every week (@ $75/wk) which we cannot afford and on the third week they want to do another x-ray (@ $150) which we cannot afford. My question is if we cannot afford to take her back to the doctor how long do we keep the cast on ? The vet said it should heal beautifully, but my other concern is should i be stopping her from walking and jumping? She is very stubborn and wont stop walking around and jumpin on the bed chair couch etc... Is this good that she is able to and not babying it or is it bad and she should be more careful.
What should I do.
Anyone that has any suggestions PLEASE email me

Thank You
