This cat theatre is coming to Toronto this weekend - I can't make up my mind about it - help me choose. The tickset are $50 each - but when will you ever see trained cats again? I also has this moral problem with animal cruelty in the circus in general but they seem happy and well looked after.

Would you pay to see it?

Boy I don't know about that. I see the ASPCA is a sponsor. Do they approve?

I'm sure not many people have seen this before. It is ify to me, but I think I would have to see it for myself to really deside!

I have seen them on tv before. He seems to genuinely love these cats, and they were very affectionate to him. It was an at home interview, and they ran around like normal housecats. Several of them stayed close to him like a cat that loves their human.

I saw this guy on a documentary about cats. He is considered one of the world's foremost masters at cat communication - he adores them and they adore him. I thought it was lovely, and if you look at their body language while they're performing, they're not doing anything they don't want to do. They love it!! And he treats them like little angels - it's gorgeous!

I think this man really loves his cats and they like to perform, but when they were on tour here a few years back, Finnish animal welfare societies raised two issues:

1. He doesn't believe in spaying/neutering, the cats have kittens all the time, he gives the kittens away to fans. It's quite a strain on the females, not to speak of all too many street cats in Russia already.

2. The cats don't have enough space, at least according our animal protection laws, which demand at least 3 square meters per cat (thats' the legal minumum, 10 square meters per first cat, 4 per every cat after that is reccomended). The cats live in very crowded circumstances, travelling in his trailer as I recall.

For these reasons our animal welfare societys suggested boycotting the cat circus. I don't know what to think really. On the other hand I kind of think it's not right to make animals public entertainment, on the other hand, from what I've seen on TV, the cat's really like to perform. I decided against going to see the show, but wouldn't judge anyone who decides otherwise.

I saw his show on TV, and to my eyes the cats appeared to be having a good time, and looked well-cared for. I hadn't heard the objections Finnish welfare groups raised, though.
