Not sure if this is in the right place....

Last night, while trick or treating with my kids, we came across a small adult cat (I think) Not sure of the sex, but was wearing a flea collar. I assumed he lived in one of the houses close by (this was down around the corner), but of course we stopped to pet and adore, he was very friendly, vocal, and affectionate. We said goodbye, and continued on. Today, while out waiting for the bus, there he was again! A brisk walk from where we had seen him last night, again he approached me, and a few other moms waiting, obviously very trusting of humans, so not feral. While talking with my neighbor, she said she had seen him around for at least two weeks, and that no one had come round asking about her/him. I wonder if he has a home and is lost, or was abandoned (not unheard of in this neighborhood) Any advice?

The first thing I would do is take him to the vet to see if he has a microchip. If he doesn't have a microchip, I would post flyers around the neighborhood listing "friendly cat with flea collar....looking for owner". I would also contact the local shelters/rescues to see if anyone has lost their cat. If after 2 weeks you have not heard anything, I would try to find him a home.

BTW..thanks for caring for him.

Oh yeah. Tonight is not a good night for cats to be out. Please try to go get that cat and bring it in.
