Hi,

Recently my cat a 1-yr. old female has started jumping up really high and scratching the walls in my bedroom mainly in the a.m. She is an indoor cat but, recently we have let her sit out on the balcony for short periods of time and she loves it.

Is this her way of saying she wants to get out? Is this cabin fever
?

Thanks

My 1 year old DSH, Sofia, has done that ever since I got her pretty much. It is kind of like the tearing around that they'll sometimes do (mine do this many times a day) to burn off energy. Maybe your cat is playing with either lights or shadows on the walls?

I just feel kind of sorry for my next door neighbor when she smacks against the wall...can't imagine what they must be thinking next doors. LOL!

She does it to say she wants to go out I guess, there is nothing else I can link it to. She did it last night after coming in from being out a short while so then I let her back out.

Funny you posted this, my cat just started this! She climbs the doorframe like a tree - and gets pretty high! She has a three story kitty condo to climb - but of course she has no interest in that!

She doesnt go out - too afraid to even try. She started this behavior when she's got the kitty-crazies, so I just wait it out. Actually, I realized she has turned into a kitten. I've had her 6mns, she's over 1 y/o...but is acting more and more like a kitten than she did 6 mns ago!
