i was told by someone they saw on tv that squinting means something in the cat world. like when your cat comes up to you and squints and rubs her head on you. does anybody know what this cat squinting means socially?

When you say squinting, do you mean a slow blink? This is a cat's way of letting you know that they are comfortable with you and at ease in general. Cats see it as a threat when others (cat or human) stare at them. A good response when your cat does this is to slowly blink in return.
