Ok, i'm sorry but i'm really excited and am hoping this isn't short lived. I was so stressed because my sweetie pie
(Shiraz) finally pooped in a litter box. I posted before, in the behavior forum, about how she was pooping outside of her litterbox every day because she's been couped up in my room because she will attack my roommate's cat and dog and we havent figured out a way of getting them to like eachother yet.
but yesterday i put another litterbox in my room, uncovered and with clumping litter instead of clay. when i first got her, she was going in the covered box with the clay litter but then started just pooping outside it and i thought she just got fed up with being in my room and me not being in there all the time. she peed in it, just didnt poop. so i put the new one in (and left the other one) last night and i left the room (usually when she takes the chance to poop on the carpet) and i came back and she had pooped in it.
i just about threw her a party.
i'm hoping it's not because it's something new and i come home to a present tonight. but hopefully maybe she just likes it. i'll be sure to update and tell you if she does. i have a feeling she still might leave me presents on the carpet because i think it still might be behavioral, but i'm crossing my fingers that it's not!!! thanks, just needed to vent, ha.

Under the cats, mostly.
Fantastic! It's quite possible she didn't much like the feelig of the clay? We have a covered box for Tosca - she likes her privacy (that and it helps to keep some of her less "desirable" smells in!!
Fingers crosses Shiraz has finally gotten the idea!

thank you!! i was just about to post the same thing here... new to this forum stuff.
yeah i was so proud of my baby
... hopefully she will keep doing it. the reason i thought it was behavioral is because she was doing both the first month i had her but the last month and a half she's been leaving the presents. oh well i guess i'll find out soon enough. hopefully she can get over the attacking thing, ha.

Sometimes, too, cats don't like to poop and pee in the same box, so two boxes work better.

Glad to hear she made her deposit in a socially acceptable place this time. Hope it continues!

well my roommate just called and told me that she pooped outside her box... there are 2 in my room... guess she's just mad about being couped up in there. i'm in a really bad mood now. i work 15 hour days and i cant be there to take her out with the other cat and dog all the time.. and every time she sees them goes into attack mode. i'm so fustrated, cuz i love the little bugger to death.

I know how you feel - I'm trying to get my 6 week old litter trained and it can be frustrating, but just remember when you were a child you were in nappies for 12 months!!! A kitten doesn't have the luxury of a nappy so sometimes they miss!!

But the fact that she has done one, means she will likely do more in there. Just give her time and be patient with her. She's not doing it to spite you, she's just a little confused!
