Hey guys,
Bear with me on this. I'm trying not to cry and trying to stay calm. I had a message when I got into work this morning that Fr. Grad, who adopted Peter's sister, Claire, was found dead in his apartment yesterday afternoon. He apparently died quietly while sitting in his chair, with Claire close by.
We agreed I'd take her back if anything ever happened to him. I knew that was a possibility, but never thought it would happen this soon. He just adopted her in May. He was her fourth home in less a year. I can't let
her go anywhere else. She's been through so much. I've already spoken to a couple of coworkers about this and they think I'm crazy to even be considering it. I also talked to the nun who lives downstairs from me and she's not happy either. I don't care. It's the right thing to do. What don't people understand that? Sorry, I'm rambling now. I know Fr. Grad loved Claire and he finally brought her out of her shell when no one else could.
I owe it to him and her to give her a stable home. This is really hard.
I have to make a few calls to arrange to pick Claire up. Please send good vibes and prayers our way.

How sad.

If you have the space, money & time to care for another kitty, you are absolutely doing the right thing by returning Claire to your home. She needs love & understanding in a forever home for the rest of her life.

Keep us posted.

{{{Prayers & vibes}}} for healing & comfort for Claire, and for comfort, strength, courage & patience for you!! I wonder if your co-workers have pondered your situation quiety, after praying for wisdom, before expressing their doubts. I don't think so - it seems like Heaven sends us a duty when it seems to be so inconvenient, nonsensical, etc., but the rescuing of a life is a divine task, and bless you for taking it on!!! I suppose all those little kitties that have crossed RB without knowing the kindness & joy & love of a good human family really needed Fr. Grad; condolences on his loss to you & to all the others that this obviously wonderful man, I'm glad his passing was gentle. Anyway, as for others criticizing you for rescuing Claire, may I remind them that the Pharisees did the same to Jesus for healing on the Sabbath!
Again, plenty of hugs, prayers & vibes coming your way!! I will light a candle in honor of Fr. Grad tonight. Hugs, susan

What sad news

Sending lots of healing and calming }}}VIBES{{{ towards you and Claire

If you are able to take Claire in, that is excellent and certainly the best thing to do!
She will feel more comfortable in a home that she knows!

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that.

Sending good vibes. I wouldn't know the right thing to do in this situation either, but poor Claire!

Okay, deep breath... What would I do without you guys?
Thank you for understanding. I've been able to calm down a little and am thinking more clearly. The news just came as such a shock. Even though their time together was short, it helps to know that Fr. Grad really loved Claire and vise versa. She brought him joy and comfort and he taught her how to trust. Your prayers and good vibes mean so much.

Under the cats, mostly.
Well, I can only say one thing - it's positive - Claire has landed on her feet every single time. And it's because of you. With very much love coming your way........

Thank you so much. You're right. Claire is a very brave, adaptable little cat and she'll get through this just fine. It helps to know that she brought this kind, gentle man such joy and comfort during the last months of his life. I'm grateful to him for giving her a chance when no one would.

I'm going to pick her up this afternoon. One of my coworkers, who was going to adopt a kitten I'm fostering, has now expressed an interest in adopting Claire instead. I'll need to think about this. It would be a good home, but I don't know if I can let Claire go again.
As many of you know, I've agonized and lamented over her before. We'll see what happens. Thanks again!

Oh Eileen, I am so sorry to hear that. If I remember right, your last post about him said he was doing much better. That is so sad to hear.

I understand completely that you want to give Claire a wonderful home. It's so nice that Claire was a comfort to him in his final days.

I remember when he adopted her. My condolences to you and Claire. Follow your instincts. If you think she's best off with you, she probably is.

Everyone else has said it so well, Eileen. I'm so sorry to hear this news, and send love to you and Claire, and everyone else this loss touches. You will know, when it comes time to decide on Claire's furever home, where that will be.
to both of you.

Condolences on the loss, to you and Claire, and the church family who will miss him. How wonderful, that Claire was with him at the end, comforting him when he needed it!

Just follow your heart about Claire, if you can give her to a good home, that will be wonderful. If you find you need to keep her, then do so. Prayers for your comfort, and wisdom in knowing which situation is best for Claire! Nice that she has two families who want her!

Eileen, I am so very sorry for your loss
. It sounds like Fr. Grad was a wonderful man. Claire is an angel for the comfort she no doubt provided him in his last months.
I know you will make the decision that is right for you and Claire. You and the father's family are in my prayers.

I'm so sorry, how very sad. It makes me think of my own babies and if there will be someone as nice as you to take them in if anything ever happens to me. Especially my Timmy, who is so frightened of everyone, including his own shadow, I'm the only one he allows to touch him, and that won't be good for him if I can't care for him any longer. Sending vibes your way, and Claire's way, so she hopefully discovers that she has a friend in you, and will be comforted.
