Well, I'm not a big fan of halloween myself, but I know lots of folks are, and regardless, there are a lot of stupid and cruel people out there, so please keep your kitties safe inside on halloween night.

Found these tips on this shelter's Web site: http://fofas.org/

Halloween Safety Tips for your Pets

Plan now to assure safety of the dog or cat who depends on your good judgment for his/her protection:

* Pranksters start grabbing cats (especially solid black or pure white cats) BEFORE Halloween. KEEP YOUR CAT INSIDE!
* Pranksters may tease or TAKE a dog from a yard to harm it on Halloween. Keep DOGS INSIDE on HALLOWEEN.
* On Halloween, confine dogs in a closed room away from a front door - to prevent escape to street on a scary night.
* Assure that current ID TAGS are on your companion animal.
* CHOCOLATE IS POISONOUS TO MANY ANIMALS and candy wrappers can be hazardous if swallowed.

About Costumes:

* Remove the costume if your animal is stressed wearing it.
* Be sure your pal can breathe properly, bark or purr in it.
* Avoid any outfit that restricts motion or obstructs vision.
* Remove ornaments that can be chewed and/or swallowed.
* Use caution around candles (in lit pumpkins): a pet may knock it over and catch fire - curious kittens are at special risk.

YOUR HOLIDAY WILL BE HAPPIER IF YOUR PAL IS SAFE!

That was great of you to post this...they seem like such little things, but sometimes in the excitement of the holiday people can loose their common sense...thanx for the reminder, and i hope everyone and their kits stay safe this halloween....

Thanks for the tips, we don't celebrate Haloween over here - but Diwali (a hindu holiday) is tomorrow night (1 Nov) - which mean fireworks, loud noices etc....

Best to keep the kitties safe inside!

Keep your critters safe!

We don't celebrate Halloween either, my family is highly religous.. so we don't hand out candy or go trick or treating.

Definately good words of wisdom. My guys can't wait for Halloween to be over. They want to explore the leaves!

We don't celebrate either, but I've been giving out a few 'friendly reminders' lately about what people will do out there. One person I talked to didn't even know people take cats around Halloween....

Im glad someone here thinks like me on this subject. As a conservative Catholic I have always had a STRONG dislike for halloween.
