I just thought that I would introduce myself finally since I have been lurking around the board reading great advice for some time now. I am looking forward to adopting my first two cats later this week, a beautiful 12 week old brother/sister tabby couple from the same litter. I work nights at a hospital so I thought it would be wrong to leave a single little one by themselves all night without someone to cuddle with. I'm sure to have many many questions about my 2 new flatmates so I hope you don't get tired of dishing out the trusted advice. A great site you have here, for sure. Now back to kitten-proofing the place...

I brought the babies home today and we couldn't be happier with each other. There's no sound greater than that of scratching on a sisal post or covering poo in the litter box on the first day home. The girl is still very timid but a lovebug and the boy is a real ham for the attention and much more animated, he tries to bite every now and then so you have to watch it and say 'NO' and he will cut it out. I am very pleased with my two newest additions to the family and I wil get some pics up just as soon as I can get them up on the site.

I'm going with Emma for the girl but still unsure as to the boy's name yet. I have them in the bathroom until they mellow out from the stressful move so it's a little cramped in there right now with litter pan, their cardboard box, sisal post, and food/water bowls. They are already making ab-line for freedo each time I open the door to get in.

Tell me if I am doing this right because I haven't had a kitten since grade school... I'm feeding a blend of Nutro dry/wet kitten food rather than the Science Diet they came home with from the vet as per the advice on this board. We're using regular Tidy Cats since they are still rather young and they have 2 boxes in different places in the apartment. I'm keeping them in their designated saferoom (bathroom) for a week or so before I let them out to explore on their own and just taking it slow since going from a small cage to a 750sq. ft. apartment has to be intimidating for such small kitties. The vet said we are looking at later next month for the spay/neutering to occur. They were given Flagyl at the vet for suspected diarrhea but their BM's both looked good and they're covering it already. I couldn't be a happier daddy.
