My cat was licking excessively and causing sores on her back leg/tummy area.
She has been on the Venison and Green Pea diet for only one week, also chlorpheniramine. She is wearing an e-collar but is happy in it and can roll around just as normal as ever.

I take it off for her to eat, play and clean herself. Her fur is finally growing back. I hope I am not being optimistic too quickly, but she does seem to feel some relief. I would like to ask Hissy and Sharky and others just your opinion. Is there any way to figure out if it's the food or the med that is helping her? Perhaps the only way is to notice her reaction after the meds are finished?

The Vet wanted to put her on OCD meds but I wanted to wait and see it just the food change would help before going on any meds.
Thank you.

It's good for cats with possible food allergies. It has one protein and one carbohydrate. There are other varieties of this kind of food. If the cat has never eaten it before, then they could not have built up an allergy to it. My cat's main food ingredient was chicken, so we switched to venison.

Many people on this website had recommended Venison and Green Pea because my cat's allergy symptoms seem to be food-related. When I went to the Vet, I didn't mention it - yet she gave me that exact diet for my cat. People on this site are awesome and have a lot of knowledge.

Once the "Search" feature works again, you might search for Venison and Green Pea. I'm sure you will find a lot of posts regarding it.

At this point I would suspect a bit of both but diet will take longer than drugs for full effect so right now likely the meds are doing the most..If I am reading that medicine right it is a anti histamine which is good at blocking allergic reactions regardless of cause..

Thanks everyone! I have had her on the chlorpheniramine for almost the full 10 days the bottle states. I will have to check with the Vet as to giving it to her longer. I am concerned because I will be going out of town for a few days, and even though I have a friend that will be staying here - I'm concerned my cat may feel stressed. I'm not sure whether to keep the e-collar on her during that time. The meds would be difficult as she won't let my friend administer them, unless they aren't bitter and can be hidden in her food. Thanks again!
