#1. Whats catnip? whats it for? safe for my kitten?
#2. how often should i feed my kitten treats?
#3. Is my kitten a housecat? let me describe him. he's a kitten and he's very frisky and bites my hand or whatever i wave at him in a non-mean matter. It's just that i always thought they were more tame and would let me pet him. He tries to bite my hand when i pet him. He came from the streets..does that make him feral? dont know what that term means fully

Catnip is a herb that causes cats to either zone out or act frisky, depending on if it is smelled or eaten. Many cat toys have it as an additive, and cat furniture is often treated with it. It doesn't affect all cats and i've heard it doesn't work on young cats. Its safe, though you may not want to give him straight catnip right away- any catnip treated toy should be fine.

What kind of treats- human food or cat treats. I would say 2-3 a day would be fine- just start slow in case it upsets his tummy. Human food is okay once in a great while, but be warned he may take a liking to something and beg or steal your food.

Most cats can be housecats. He is a kitten, most kittens are like you describe. If he bites your hand, distract him with a toy instead- you don't want him to continue this into adult hood! Some kittens don't want to sit and cuddle all the time. He sounds like a cat that likes to play. Start slowly with the petting. I have a very skittish kitten, but she will let me pet her when she is eating her wet food.

Feral cats are cats that have reverted back to their wild ways and are not domesticated. They tend to be afraid of humans and can bite like they mean it. They are usually difficult to tame as they get older. Since your kitten is younger he is probably going to be just fine around humans. It depends a lot on the individual cats. I have two kittens that I rescued from outside. They are littermates- one is extremely social, the other is not- she tolerates humans, doesn't bite, but is extremely cautious and runs away from hands. She does play with toys.

I would get some books about cats and read up, also keep up with this site, you will learn a lot. Most of all- enjoy your little guy!
