Since a breed picture trend has been started, I'd like to see everyone's Maine Coons. We're looking for one to adopt as a pet/show, so I'd sure like to see all the color varieties and hear about personalities.

Please post pictures of your MC's!

Well, I just took these hurriedly
, I really need to see if I can't set up a "photo shoot" some time LOL,

Mithril, Blue Classic Tabby and Narsil, Brown Classic Tabby trying to get some toy out from under the bookcase:

Narsil caught in mid-leap onto the cat tree:

Bubble-wrap apparently just makes the best toy, LOL. They've been having a ball with this, popping it, pouncing on it, shoving something up under it and then "trying" to get it out. My living room looks like I never pick anything up
:

At this point I swear, they're all tail ...

These boys were neutered right when they turned 6 months, they were born March 14, so that would make them about 7.5 months old now. They haven't been weighed recently, but I'm just guessing they're 12+ pounds. Some cats get their coat earlier than others, I'd guess these guys aren't going to get theirs 'til they're close to a year. I bought them as pets, although I could probably show them if I wanted to mess with it (and if I knew anything about it!) Neither of them are cuddle-bugs, but they're young yet with more important things to do LOL. Mithril will come up several times a day and want up in my lap, but he doesn't usually "light" but will go 'round 'n 'round up across my shoulders, down, across my lap, then repeat unless I take him and turn him upside down, then he's usually happy. He's the hyper one. Narsil on the other hand, I will call "Surfer Dude" as he's just so laid back and nothing bothers him. These are the only cats I've ever had that I could vacuum the room and they didn't run for cover, although they will keep an eye on that thing. Just in case
.

Awwwww, I love these pictures! For curiousity's sake, how much does a Main Coon usually cost? They are just beautiful, ever since I found this site I've wandered about them! I would really like to look into getting one sometime in the future.

As in most purebreds, there are a lot of factors, region of the country being one of them. Around here from what I've observed, pets go for $500, give or take, breeder quality around $800, and show usually $1000-1200 up depending on quality. Out on the west coast you can tack about $2-300 on those prices, likewise up north.

I don't live too far from you (in TN), so I guess prices would probably be similar here. But it will more than likely be a few years atleast before I'd even start looking. I just got Marlee about a month and a half ago, and since I'm in college, I couldn't afford a purebred right now!

Can anyone tell me about their personalities? I know each and every cat is different, and don't always follow what is attributed to their breeds, but I'm curious!

That's just it, they're all different. I've only had close experience with 4 (counting these 2). Annie (CH Charmalot Andrea of Coontique) would get on your lap, loved to be petted, would purr up a storm and liked to be around people. Did NOT like to be held AT ALL.

Willowplace Melichus her son, was a real cuddle bug although a bit skittish. He loooooved to be picked up and hugged and would just purr and purr, loved to lie on my hubby's chest and knead his throat (drove me nuts
), when you picked him up he would leeeeeean into you and purr, kneading the air the while, gave head bumps and was just an all around great guy. I still miss him
.

Narsil is really laid back, but will only tolerate being picked up for a short time although I can clip claws no problem. Really laid back though, nothing bothers him particularly. He's a very quiet cat, I don't think I've heard him meow at all, although he will occasionally give the normal Maine Coon "chirrrup" that they have. He's more stand-offish, although he usually at some point in the night will end up sleeping on my pillow right above my head. I need a bigger pillow
.

Mithril is "my" boy, and will come looking for me and want to get in my lap although he seldom settles down for long. He's just too hyper. He usually sleeps on my feet. Likes to be held upside down like a baby and will purr at that, but as soon as he sees his brother he's got to get down to see what's going on. They're still kittens technically
after all. You can call them and they will both come running. They've about learned the places they're not allowed (top of bookcases, aquarium, sofa-table, dining-table, kitchen counters) although if I do find one "out of place" it's usually Narsil. Mithril tries to be a "good boy." Also interestingly enough Mithril is more of a talker, does meow and constantly chirrups when he's playing with Narsil. Narsil and Mithril are full brothers from the same litter.

Yup. All different
.

Aww they all sound wonderful! Thank you so much for taking the time to answer me. Since I've joined TCS I have found so many new breeds I've just absolutely fallen in love with. If I had the money, I would have so many! Again thanks, and looking forward to more pics of your boys!

This isn't my Maine Coon, but I think it's the most beautiful Maine Coon I've ever seen, and I think all Maine Coons are beautiful. I would give ANYTHING if I could have a cat that looks like this. To be honest, I think this is the most beautiful cat, I've ever seen.
