I know this is a cat site (duh!) but I wonder if you could all spare a thought for my pup Ruby who is having her spay today? We have a vet in the family who told me that bitch spays are the most complex routine operation a vet can do and it will take her a couple of weeks to recover.

And also, we are a bit anxious because the last time one of our girls (Princess) went in for `routine' surgery she reacted to the anaesthetic, died, was revived and then temporarily blind as a result. She was really terrible for five or six days afterwards.

The vet said Ruby's doing fine and that she's recovering well, but I worry for my little sweet girl.

Could anyone spare me a thought or two for her?

Thanks

Sending lots of {{{ good healing vibes }}} to Ruby.

When will you hear back from the vet?

I will send a healing thought. No need to get worried about it though, my dog(Welsh Corgi Cardigan) was spayed. And everything went just fine.

But she will be in pain for a couple of weeks after the operation.

I guess it depends on the vet & the dog. My dog Tasha was up & at 'em in a couple of days. And at the time, she was 90lbs. although she was only 8 months. I prayed alot for her, though, and {{{prayers & healing vibes}}} for Ruby...and her mommy!

Hee hee I had to load Marshall, My pitbull lab mix (stolen or killed since), who weighed 96 lbs (in summer thank goodness, winter he bulked up 5-15lbs) ... Loading a grown, doped up, monster dog after castration was NOT fun. and he looked so pitifully at me, that's what I get for putting it off though.
