They lied to me!

Hummm....just got hubby off to work...time to get on the puter and check out what is happening on TCS.
I pour the last cup of coffee out of the pot.....yes, and ahhh there is still one small pice of the spice cake, with Philly cream cheese frosting left. It had my name all over it.....so I take it to the puter desk along with my coffee and deposit them next to the mouse.....bring up the site, and knowing I`ll be here for awhile, decide I`ll make a potty run first.
I come back and settle into my chair...go to reach for my fork....MY CAKE IS GONE!!!!.....and then I see them....smug as can be sitting on their cat tree washing thier whiskers!!!
For all the times I`ve offered them a tad bit of a sweet goodie...and they always refuse, telling me they don`t really like sweets!
They lied to me!!! (Think it was the cream cheese that tempted them???)

Well I had`nt thought of that....but but thanks for the idea, as it might be a possibility ,since they have stolen my tooth brush on more than one occassion!

Lesson learned? Never leave your cream cheese frosting in the grasp of kitties with a sweet tooth!

I haven't introduced myself (just joined 5 minutes ago) and will do so soon, but I hope you won't mind me jumping in on this one...

Many years ago I had a couple of Siamese. Any time I put down milk in a saucer, Ceres (blue point) would back away, lift a paw and shake it, shudder slightly and walk off with stiff legs. One day I tried an experiment. I put some milk in a jug and left it in an easily accessible place (I know - that's not too difficult with cats!) I then looked away, but watched out of the corner of my eyes (if you see what I mean...) Ceres had her head in the jug in no time, and lapped away eagerly till all the milk was gone. Obviously it tasted much better when it was 'stolen'!

Now that you mention it...

Both Trent and Ophelia LOVE Whipped Cream. And Trent doesn't like ANY people food! And Ophelia likes cheesecake too, and vanilla ice cream. So much for the theory that kitties don't like sweets!

Presumably they can't even TASTE sweets, but all those things have milk products in them. It may be that which they're after.

At least they didn't drink your coffee. Now that would really make me upset.

Who says they don't drink coffee?

One of mine, years and years back, even drank a half a glass of a strong mixed drink at a party when we weren't looking. Cat got very drunk and had a hangover for a couple days. Funny at the time though.

Cats are natural thieves and can not be trusted. But they're cute thieves.
