Hello everyone!!

I have a quick question for you guys. My sister just adopted 2 adorable female kittens, she set up a litter box in the bathroom, they go in there to pee but poop elsewhere
, can someone tell me why??
Thanks!!

Have her add a second litter box. Sometimes there are cats which do exactly what you're talking about so they need a pee box and a poo box. Also, having multiple cats means more than one box.

Exactly.

My cats sometimes poop in both boxes, but it's a pretty rare thing. I've read that you're supposed to have one more box than you have cats, but in my small apartment, my two cats make do with just two boxes.

The rule of thumb is: number of boxes = number of cats + 1. Also, when cats have access to multiple levels, there should be boxes on each level. Many people with multiple cats get by just fine on fewer boxes, however. So you might want to start with the recommended number of boxes, then if that's working out, eliminate one box as an experiment, and if that's working out, eliminate another, etc.
