I am a little worried about my 8 year old male siamese. For the last few months he has been looking a little thiner and his coat is a little rough. Could this just be age or could it be a more serious problem? His bowel movements are fine and his energy level is the same.
It might just be that we got a female seal point kitten a few months ago. She is almost a year now. I might just be comparing a little too much.
Any ideas?
He had a ringworm back in April and went to the vet. The vet said that he was doing great for a cat that is eight.

Sometimes change in weight despite a good appetite and a change in coat texture to a coarser coat indicates a thyroid problem. I'd take him in and ask for a senior panel and specifically ask also that he be checked for hyperthyroidism. He's a bit younger than any of mine that ever developed this, but it's still possible, and easy to rule out by testing to see.

Definitely have some bloodwork done to check for hyperthyroidism. Does your cat go outside? If so, or if there is a chance your new kitty could have either one, test for FIV and Feline Leukemia as well.

Mow is an indoor cat. We have accidents once and awhile and he does get out. He is a very smart cat and knows how to open doors, but he is indoors 99 percent of the time. I dont think that he has FIV or Feline Leukemia because he is vaccinated against them.

I would still encourage you to get the bloodwork done. If it comes back normal, then you have a basis for comparison for the future. Otherwise, you may have caught something in the early stages while it is very treatable.
