I've HAD it with litter flung halfway across the hallway! The kitties have two boxes, one covered (which works great) and one uncovered. The uncovered one is next to the washer/dryer in a hallway closet, and the cat prefer to use that one. The problem is that Ophelia digs to China and manages to make PILES of litter just outside of one corner.
It's been getting worse, so I've decided they need a new box!

I think I want to stick with the uncovered kind, since they are used to it there and like it. Just a much deeper one. I'm just concerned because Trent does not deal well with change. At all. So although it will be in the same place and still uncovered, I can see him freaking out. I have no idea how Ophelia will react.

Any tips on how to make the transition an easy one for them?

Awww poor Trent...what a sweetie.....

I know that a lot of places will sell the budda dome bottom and the buda dome top seperatly...The budda dome bottom is a lot more deeper.....thats my idea...sorry I don't have more...All three of mine are covered

If your kitties jump easily in and out of things, I've heard a lot of people saying that they just use those big Rubbermaid containers. You could always cut away like half of the top and use that as sort of a ledge upon which they could jump, while leaving it mostly uncovered.

Sorry I can't be more helpful...we're a booda dome family in these parts.

Our Tedy was quite the little litter-flinger too. We bought a big plastic storage container at walmarts, tossed the top and cut out a section about 8" wide and down low enough for the cats to get in. it really did take care of most of the litter flying out over the top.

If it's in the same place, I don't think you have to worry about it.
That's the exact one I'm looking at! Earl liked the walk-up ramped Booda Dome, but since they seem to prefer the uncovered box I'm thinking I'll pass on that. They have always been so good with the boxes that I don't want to make them neurotic by taking away their line of sight.

Gabby isnt very good with change either, I moved the box over 3 inches and she got freaked out when she went to the bathroom and peed on the carpet! One thing that did help however, was I did a complete litter change about 2 to 3 days before I gave her a new box. Then I put her semi used litter, poo and all into the new box. That way it had her smell already in it. It seemed to help.

Harley is a MAJOR litter flinger, so we're going to get him a rubbermaid tote and he better like it!! haha, I've had it with litter all over my carpet and kitchen floors!
