I had five or six pictures I had framed. I wanted them hung, but I am not good at that part. My husband spent about two hours hanging them for me today. He cut a piece of newspaper the size of each picture and lightly stuck it to the wall so I could see how it would look. He measures everything from side to side, top to bottom, etc. When he finishes the holes are in the right place and the pictures look wonderful. How do you all get this job done. Do you have help or do you suffer through and try to do it yourself. Maybe some of you are really good at it too, but I am not. If I try to hang pictures, the nail is in the wrong place and I have to do it over. Too many holes as a result of my trying to do it.

He sounds like a real peach!! Hope he got lotsa

In this house it could be either of us. Rob would take almost as much trouble as your wonderful guy, and it would be a splendid job. I have a pretty good eye, so I just hold it up, pencil mark a guide, and go to town. That works too and gets the job done a lot more quickly. It depends whether time is an issue, and how much investment he has in the picture, which way I go

I`m glad your hubby is so willing to help you do what you feel you "are`nt good at".
I do my own picture hanging...and all the wallpapering, painting etc.....but my hubby does the actual building of the houses. (We equally hate the drywalling...so we do share that job too) :-)

How nice to hear! He sounds like a great guy, and how refreshing to hear someone speak so highly of their husband! So often it's just complaint after complaint. I wish we would all be better at looking for positives and not just how our spouses should be different.

Pictures: That's a good idea, to cut out the size in newspaper and hang it on the wall; I'll be using that idea! My dh is always happy to help me with projects like that, but I'm usually too impatient to wait until he's home or able to, so I end up doing it myself. I too get holes here and there that didn't work, but not too bad. I'd rather just get it done NOW!!! Mrs Impatient... Just like when we had about 15 trees to plant, they were all about 6 feet but one really big one, and I got them down before dh had a chance to get to it. He only did a few, but would have done them all had I waited for him to get back from work! Hmmm..... I should have waited with that big one, it was really heavy... I just couldn't wait! But of course, I had my 3 yro to help me! He's a real good helper!

Cool
!

I usually have Sunny hold them up, and move them around 'til I like the location, then go and feel behind it for the wire or hanger, make sure it's extended (in the case of a wire) to where it would be with the weight of the pic on it, hold my finger there to mark the spot and then have him put the pic down. Mark the spot with a cross lightly with a pencil (which I usually have behind my ear
), tap in a picture hanger with the bottom of the hanger at the horizontal portion of the cross, hang the picture and call it done. I use a bit different technique involving a bit of math in the case of large pictures that require two hangers, but the other way works 80% of the time.

That was very nice of him to take that much time. My hubby is also a measurer/level person. If I do it I just stand back, visualize it, and then hammer away.
