I am planning on getting Tola onto high-quality (Wellness, Felidae) canned and dry food from her current raw food diet. How do I do it? How long should I mix old and new for? She is on 150 g of raw twice daily.

This is not a question about whether raw is good or not by the way, it's just in my situation I cannot do it any longer, so I need to make the switch.

Thanks!

Loving my beautiful baby girl
You're wise to want to make the switch in the best way so as not to upset Tola's tummy! It's best to begin gradually, of course. Offer her about 3/4 part of her usual food with about 1/4 of her new food. Take it gradually, you may want to keep it at this for 3-4 days, maybe a week. Allow Tola to be your guide. If she has diarhea or vomiting, back off a bit. Gradually increase her new food as you decrease her old food, going from this point to 50/50, then 3/4 her new food, 1/4 her old food, until finally she is eating only her new diet!

Hope this goes wonderfully for both of you! Please let us know what Tola has to say about it!

Ok, so do the 3/4 old and 1/4 new for about 3-4 days if she's okay, and then progress?
thank you so much!! She's a pretty good eater, hopefully she won't have an upset tummy. I am having someone come in and cat sit her in about two weeks, and I hope to have totally made the switch by then so the sitter has an easier time of it too.

thanks!

well, the first day I tried the new food, I put 1/4 in her dish, set it on the counter and went to fix her raw food. Next thing I know, I turn around and she had JUMPED UP ON THE KITCHEN COUNTER and promptly began eating the new food!! I couldn't stop laughing and it was then I realized, well, I obviously don't have a problem with her eating something new!!!

But still I have taken it slowly, and keep sprinkling this holistic stuff that is supposed to help their digestion, and so far so good. she seems totally normal, no vomit, no diarrhea, and she's EXTREMELY excited about the new food. I even have to give her the new food while I wait for the raw to defrost because she keeps standing up and meowing and licking her lips!!! I'm pretty sure that on Wednesday I can make the entire switch. I'm so happy!!! And so is she!! LOL.

I love my little monster, and am so grateful she took the switch well.....
