Hi!

The admin of another forum pointed you guys out to me this morning, and of course, me being the shy, quiet type and all, I thought I'd say hey.
Hey!
I have a cat, Spike,
(great smiley collection here!) who is 16 and was diagnosed with vaccine-induced fibrosarcoma almost two years ago. He had two radical surgeries in an attempt to resect the entire tumor, but they were not successful. He did very well until about October, when he began to slip downhill. His tumor recurred in about July, (it started in his flank area) and is now the size of a small orange. He is now what I would guess to be in the final stages. He has lost half of his body weight (he was 17 lbs, and very handsome, when this all started). He is now 8 lbs, and is very weak on his hind end, the tumor is actually impeding his ability to walk. He does not seem to be in any pain, though, and still purrs and drools when I come home, so I will let him be for now.
He has just started having trouble eating this past week, and I am feeding him Nutrical, baby food, tuna, and whatever else he wants!

I have given his wishes a lot of thought, and will ultimately do what is best for HIM, not for me. We know each other extremely well, and I am confident that I will know when it is time. sighhh.
Anyway, I have blathered on enough about Spike. I shall get to the business of reading all about you people. I am glad that I was pointed in this direction, I will probably benefit greatly from your experiences at this incredibly sad time.

Sue - that is so sad about Spike. My thoughts will be with him to remain pain free in his final days. He is luckey to have such a loving owner. I know that you get a lot of support and encouragement from this site & I hope to see you post often.

Hi Sue, and welcome to a fellow Jersey-ite, although I have been displaced for almost longer than I can remember.

I'm sorry to hear about Spike. I hope your final days with him are happy ones.
