It seems like my Christmas list gets bigger and bigger every year too! Do you buy for a lot of people (friends/family) or just family?

I love Christmas, only 60some days left until Christmas!!
I can't believe next week is November already...yikes!!
i'm nearly finished - need to buy a gift for my mom, my grandmother & for whoever's name i draw at thanksgiving. also still need a birthday gift for my dad, who had the bad luck to be born on december 26th. now, in case you think that still sounds like a lot, let me tell you i've already gotten gifts for my dad for christmas, & for 8 of the 9 nephews & nieces i have.

Actually, I have started! However, Joe gets a Christmas bonus in December that helps considerably with our shopping burden. So, we are waiting to finish with that. I've also done a lot of canning this year, so it's a sure bet that some of my gifts will be of the homemade variety!

Actually, by shopping this way, I can buy nice things for people and not spend much money. Everything is off the clearance and sale racks.
I wish I was on Sunnicat's Christmas list. She said some of her gifts will the the things she has canned. Yum with some homemade preserves or pickles.

For the first time ever, I started shopping early. And I'm about 1/2 done. For the past couple of months I've bought a couple of things each pay. That way, come December, I can save for the big Boxing Day sales!!

In October or November I get out my list and see who I haven't purchased a gift for. So I am mostly finished and wrapped. All I do is add the ribbons to the packages once the tree goes up. Wow, and I thought I was obsessive about it! I don't start the notebook until August or so. I just went through a closet and updated it with more things I had forgotten I bought for people. You even have them wrapped??

December used to be our worst time at work. I was in charge of the stone and diamond inventory done the week before Christmas. It was a matter of necessity having everything bought by then. I have eased up a bit since I am home.

I used to be out at the crack of dawn on the day after Thanksgiving. When I started hosting Thanksgiving, that ended. Now I just want to spend the day recovering from the cooking and cleaning frenzy.

I haven't bought one present yet! My two sons 16 and 19 are so hard to buy for at this age. I haven't a clue what to get them. It was so easy when they were little. Toys and more toys. Now its I have no idea...Wes ave up xmas money over the summer and put it up. So I have the cash. But no idea what to buy.. same with hubby no idea what to get him either. My Mom I go shopping with and make her pick out what she wants.

Movie passes? gift certificates to rent videos? gift certificates to a local mall where the "kids" hang out? I have 4 nieces between the ages of 13 and 20 and these are always popular.

I just got started this weekend. I have three people done now. I'm hoping to get two more done next weekend. Then all I have is four people. Of course those last four are the ones that I get the most for so...I'm trying to stick to my budget of $500 this year. We'll see how it goes, so far I'm doing pretty good. I'm hoping to be finished up by the end of November.

Thankfully I don't have to buy wrapping paper this year, I still have loads left over from last year.

I agree--for my cousins that I buy for, they are such hard ages
(13 - 16), and those kind of gift certificates are always a good hit with them!

Now on Saturday me and my family are going up to the Mall of America, lets hope I can get the rest of it all finished while I'm here!
I don't have much left, just a few little things!

Anyone else all finished?

I have started but only because I have to mail some of them to the UK the rest will get done later - we only buy presents for the kids in the family and do a secret santa type thing with the adults. My sisters both told me what they want (a day at a spa together), my mum joked about having a maid do her housework so my sisters and I got together and got her the xmas food hamper and a maid for a week. So just my nephew who wants parts for his train set (nice and easy), my goddaughter who wants clothes that i still have to buy and my baby cousin that I still have to find something for.

Then I can start with family and friends here!

I am getting there.
I bought a few more gifts this week. I have maybe 5 or so to go. The "hard to buy for" people are done.

I make lots of stuff for the people I buy-this yr the universal gift will be some sort of sweet or spicy nuts in cute christmas tins I just bought for 50% off today. I am making some felt actually they will be fall themed pillows and some painted saying placques for gardens. Lat yr I made those fabric stuffed hangers-what a mistake!! But as my parents age (mid 70's) its getting harder to buy them stuff that will use-mom has enough lotions to open her own shop!! DH is always late on telling me what he wants-this yr he said fenders for his 1950 JD tractor-I said thats up at the farm-forget that!! What about the one in pieces in your workshop?? I try to pay attention throughout the yr and if a gift idea comes to me I'll write it down.
