Parents often make the mistake of thinkng that what goes on at home is never reported in school - or to heakth care personnel - and they are mistaken, sometimes in a good way b/c the begining of the school year or an injury that lands a child in the ER can bring out sexual abuse that needs to be stopped.
I certainly believe that sex ed should be taught in school prob starting in middle school, grade 5. One of Canada's most prominant Sex educators is Sue Joahnnason, (sp?), a nurse who hosts the Sunday Night Sex Show when ppl of all ages call in with questions - whichleave nothing to the imagination. She addressed our school when I was a kid and she was great!!
I also have a cute story - in keeping with the theme of home being in to schoole et al. Before becoming an administrator, my mom taught grade 4 for a few years. One day the kids were learning to use the word "lovely", its meaning and how to se it in a sentence. Mom askd the kids to create sentences with the word to show they understood its meaning. One little boy put up his hand and he was asked to orally present his sentence. He said that this morning his sister Susie came downstairs to tell the family she was pregnant. Her father replied in front of thew entire family, "Well that's just f***ing lovely!"
You never know what you will get!! (tho I doubt that would end up in Kids Say The Strangest Things, lol)

She yells back "Mum! I know what CELIBATE means..I said SETTLEMENT!"

could occur after packaging"
That was an excellent laugh to start the day!!
She began laughing at me reading the box over again out loud stating
"yeah mum, it says here that some not having sex could occur after packaging"
(It was kind of a weird joke to hear your daughter say....I am so glad my family has a sense of humour
