The Humane Society of Greater Akron is currently doing a two-for-one deal on cats. Their adopting fees are lowered too. There are EXTREMELY overcrowded! They have the space for 125 animals and they have 460. They have cats caged in the offices and the employee areas sectioned off for the cats to run around. They have a barn full of dogs too as well as 4 rooms full of runs. It is ridiculous, I can't imagine the employees are probably going crazy with all those animals to worry about. I used to work there a couple years ago and it was crowded then, but man it is overflowing now.

Even if someone wants an animal that lives out of the area, while adopting one to ship or travel with to another state is not usually a good idea, sometimes not even allowed, in this case, I would say go for it just because they need to get out of this shelter ASAP. Adopting out of state would be better then living in a cage with a ton of other cats...in my opinion.

Check the kitties out here...

That is soooo sad. What will happen if they can`t find homes for them? (I don`t think i really want to know)
I hope they can all be placed. Pleople should really know that 2 cats are easier than one. I really do feel that way. I hope they can get them homes in pairs!

Oh they will not euthanize them don't worry. They just keep them all and try to find new ways to get people to adopt. I think they are planning to have a new shelter built which is badly needed. But that takes time and so much money for a non-profit organization.
