All of a sudden, my computer can no longer find my Kodak EasyShare CX4300 digital camera. It worked fine, the last time that I used it and the EasyShare software loads OK.

I do not have the dock. I have always used the USB connection, in order to connect the camera to the computer. I have gone through the troubleshooting steps, on the Kodak website. In addition, I uninstalled the software and reinstalled, using the CD, that came with the camera. Still, no luck. After installation, I get an error message: unable to boot application.

This is driving me nuts! I have some new pix of the twins and can't get them out of the camera
I've contacted Kodak and am waiting for a response but, I'm open to any suggestions, in the meantime. Just keep it simple, though - I'm not that tech-savvy.

Cindy I always used to have this problem until I got the dock. Although it could have been the system I was running it on. Good luck Cindy!

I know that my Easy Share was bugging me to update the software. Can you or did you download an upgrade from the web site?

I downloaded the update and got another message, to run "setup" and "repair". Did that, rebooted and got the SAME message. I'm fed up with Kodak EasyShare! Next payday, I'm going to buy a card reader and just use Photoshop, from now on.

I'm thinking that maybe the update was incompatible or is causing a conflict.

Good solution! Card readers are not expensive, and it makes life soooooooo much easier!

Are you using XP?? If so, it comes with a "wizard" to upload your pics. It's under Control Panel ~ "Scanners & Cameras".

I checked there but my camera isn't in the drop-down list.

Sent you a gmail, Cindy, because I got kicked off TCS, presumably due to too much "traffic". I'd also recommend a card reader - it'll spare you a lot of annoyance.
