Peace be up on you

My nearly 2 month old female kitten Angel is a little sick! I've had her for a week now, and prior to last night... everything had been great. She eats normally, her stool appears to be normal, she purrs, plays... everything but last night I noticed she was abnormally tired and restless. Usually when I put her in her room she starts meow'ing in an effort for me to let her out. She's always tryin to jump up on the beds, couches...When she's in my room, if I put her on the floor she'll meow until I put her on the bed then she'll sleep. But yesterday, wherever I put her... bathroom floor, in the middle of the hall way, in my hand in mid air.. anywhere i'd put her.. she'd sleep. She didn't eat all day yesterday only until before she slept.. she ate a little bit. I woke up today and I found her in her litter box sleepin' inside of it right on top of her wastes..

Any suggestions?

Flea anemia? Tick disease? Unsure of her history, and unless she was unusually active in the last few hours, falling asleep so often and so quickly is not usual for a kitten her age. You got her awfully early from her mom, do you know her history at all? Are the other littermates healthy that you know of?

I would certainly call a vet in your area and talk to them about this-

Thanks for the replies!

Well I just read an article about flea anemia and it's lookin' towards that... But I'm not equipped to give an conclusive answer. About her history... well she was sleeping alot too but when I woke her up before this hapened. She would want to play, run around the house.. follow me, play with what ever she could find and now she just lies there. And I had no other choice, she would of just been kept in a cage and I don't know if who ever would of taken her would pay a cent for medical treatment incase she got sick. And no, I don't know where her Mother came from and I don't know of her littermates.

Anyway, i'm definetly going to the Vet tomorrow.. I simply hope that she makes it until tomorrow.. and oh yeah, last night after I made this post... she ate a little bit, it wasn't much but it was something.

Thank you all, GOD bless.

You can check for anemia, but taking your finger and opening her mouth carefully, gently press your finger against the gums which should be pink and happy, not pale or white streaked- then take your finger away, her gums should pink back up in seconds, if they stay pale or have the impression of your finger still showing on them- she needs a vet NOW

Good luck!

Well... to my sadness, her gums are white and pale... and to add on that, I don't know how to describe this... it's a little disgusting but while I was just checking up on her to see if her gums are white and pale.. I held her up, and she was literally "going to the bathroom" in mid air. But the waste was liqoud.. she's at a point now where she can barely walk.. she wanted to walk to her litter box and she barely made it...

oh GOD...

Sounds like she needs an emergency vet NOW. I truly hope she will be fine.

I truly am grateful for your kind words...

The vet isn't in the city right now and I don't have any other vet that's close to me... So it's going to have to wait another 24 hours or so before I could take her. I called the Vet's brother, and he told me it's probably an intestinal problem rather than a problem such as anemia. She's going to simply survive until tomorrow... save a prayer, and again thank you for kind words y'all.

If it is an intestinal prob, that also sounds very serious, and her symptoms are very worrying, I really would see if there was a way to get her to a vet a lot quicker than 24 hours.

You actually inspired me to make that call... I hit up a friend and she told me of a Vet's office right next to my University which is right next to my house... I completly forgot about it, and she told me he's an expert with felines. So i'm going to go right now and hope the Doctor's clinic is open. It's Sunday so that's the problem!

i'll keep you updated, THANKS A MIL!

I am so pleased. I am sure that if he realises how serious it is, he will help. Have got everything crossed for her.

all right guys...

I have an update...

Well I went to the Doctor's clinic and they were renovating the place... How ever the Doctor was actually there and he didn't hesitate to help me even though they were closed..

So we went into the examination room, he checked her heart rate and did another test... He asked me.. "would you like to the truth straight up?" and ofcourse I said yes.. he's like "this kitten is dying" and I was just like.. whoaaa... Apparently the ignorant pet store robbed the Mother of this young kitten too early and she wasn't able to develop a certain immunity against the viral infection it has now. I asked him if there was ANY chance... as little as it is.. for her to be saved and he's like well... in every 100 cases, 2 or 3 survive. So ofcourse, I'm taking my chances... He gave her some anti-biotics and I some medicine that should increase her heart rate to try and get it back to normal. And now i'm giving her another medicine ever 2 hours that should keep her body hydrated, another medicine I should give her for another 4 more days if she survives the night..

In conclusion, chances of survival are low but statistics never looks at the individual.. so I just hope this little innocent life can beat the odds and live to be a Mother her self some day. If she survives the night, her chances will increase drastically...

I just wanna thank everybody here who's given kind words, and thank you all for inspiring me to take her to the Vet today. Whether she survives or not, atleast we've given her a fighting chance...

I'll let you know what happens..

Peace Be Upon You, GOD bless.

Oh no. I thought the doc might have been good enough to help on a Sun. I think you are doing the right thing by giving her a chance, she could be one of the lucky ones that can survive. I really do hope your love can pull her through this.

Thanks for listening, see you.
