Help My kittys bum whole is all red

Hi,
I have a quick question, my kitten that has been with us for a week now is doing fantastically purring playing the whole bit. His meowing has even subsided. But just tonight I lifted him up for a breif look over and I noticed his little bum whole was all red. Is this normal? If not is there something I can do? I am worried about him. He doesn't seem to have a problem going to the bathroom from what I can tell, he goes once in the morning and once right before I change his litter at night. Could it be because I am using clumping litter? He is 11 weeks old about. Any advice would be appreciated

is his stool normal or hard or runny? he could have worms as well, has he been tested for parasites?

It does look like worms, perhaps a vet visit is in order

It seems like minutes after I posted this all was back to normal. He has just been to the vet so I can't imagine it being worms. His stool is perfectly normal aswell.

Just keep a check on him. If it doesn't clear up, I would call the vet for an appt.

Perhaps he was licking the area which would stimulate blood flow and cause the redness. Definitely keep an eye on it though.

When a cat is going to the bathroom, the rectum prolapses a little and this is bright red. If it went right back to normal, it probably had something to do with that and it's no big deal. If it keeps happening when your kitten is not going to the bathroom, though, it would be a good thing to mention to the vet during your next routine appointment.

Usually when my cat has to poop his bum prolapses a little, and it's pink. So that is probably what you're seeing.

I must have given him his little look over right after going to the bathroom because now it seems as though everything is just fine.
