Actually, if someone could answer this I'd be happy. The vet didn't even tell me how it worked and the box wasn't any help either.

As far as I know when you put in onto the neck, it absorbs into the bloodstream, therefore killing any flea that bites. then whenever they jump onto the animal within that time period, then the Flea stuff will kill the flea once it bites. That is what I understand anyway.

The Advantage, Frontline and Revolution product is designed so it travels down the body of the pet slowly. It is grabbed by the natural oils of the animal's fur and that is the highway that it travels down. Because it mixes with the body's natural oils, it sticks longer and allows the biting fleas to die. That is why when you use this product you do not bathe your pet after application. If you do, you destroy the process.

I would guess that the kittens are still getting fleas...even though the fleas will die once they are on the kitties...IF the area isn't treated, I would assume that the fleas continue to jump on those warm cozy cats.

I have a flea problem too with my 11 indoor cats...had to treat the cats with Frontline Plus and my house with the BEST flea product I have ever used called Siphotrol Plus II Premise Spray.by Vet.Kem....it works for 30 weeks! Covers 2,000 sq ft.

You can get it online cheaper than at the vet...$25 at the vet $15 online.

If you use revolution, you can bath(if you wanted to)after 2 hours of application, because it absorbs into the skin and into their bloodstream. It states it on the packaging that you can bath after 2 hours and the vet also let me. When I got Buddy from the shelter he was really flea infested, I used the revolution, but I had to give a bath because he was covered not only with dead flea's but flea poop too
He has long hair so it was difficult to comb out, and when I tryed it just smeared the poop along his white fur. So I read the pack and called the vet, then I gave him a bath the next day, and as long as you wait 2 hours its okay. But I don't know if thats the case with other flea meds, just the Revolution.

Try Revolution. My vet claims that it is the better than Advantage and Frontline. Buddy was really bad with fleas, he was covered in them and had flea poop to. It was so bad that he had dermatitis on his face where he kept getting bite. I used the Revolution, and was instructed to remove all the rugs and towels in the bathroom and to keep him their for 24 hours. So I did, and you literally see the little suckers jumping off to save their nasty lives. Well point is, it worked GREAT!!
And it also helps with other parasites too that can plague your kitty. Buddy is flea free for the first time because of the Revolution and I would recommend it to anyone. You can buy it online cheaper than the vets, you can get it for almost 1/2 price. GOOD LUCK!!

You may need to treat your home and carpets. Try a flea Bomb, but you will have to take the kitten out while you use it. Also put a cut up flea collar into your vacuum bag. If fleas are still alive on the carpet or furniture, they will still attempt to jump on your cat.

The quality topical flea treatments (Frontline, Advantage, and Revolution) actually absorb into the hair follicles, not the bloodstream. This is why they are so safe for the cats - if they absorbed into the bloodstream then they would be poisoning the cat too.

Actually, if you go to www.revolution4cats.com , click on product info, it will describe to you that it enters the bloodstream, and it does not poisen the cat!!

It states:

": Revolution enters the bloodstream through the skin. Concentrations of Revolution in the blood and tissues prevent heartworm disease and prevent and treat roundworm and hookworm infections. Revolution selectively redistributes from the blood to the skin and other tissues, where it provides protection against fleas, flea eggs, and ear mites."

I guess I have scared myself by reading up on side effects of all the topical flea treatments. I'm terrified to hat my fur babies will have a bad reaction. I do know one of my guys hair fell out from Frontline. I really need advice on the safest way to treat. I have 7 kitties that range from 5lbs to 20 lbs and under a year old to 9 years old.
