My cat rubs her cheeks on everything and actually scrapes the sides of her teeth on things like the corner of our coffee table and the bottom of our stairs.. Is this just a marking thing or could it mean that she needs to have her teeth cleaned? Our vet reccomended she have that done---but it is soooo expensive. Has anyone done this for their kitty or had this issue?

My kitty does that kind of thing all the time. Probably just a marking issue, my cat likes to chew on the corner of tables as well
..have you tried brushing your kitties teeth??..I know it sounds silly but you can get kitty toothpastes that cats love..they don't even notice that you are brushing their teeth.

Cats have scent glands on the sides of their mouths. Basically, yes, your kitty is merely distributing her scent. It really doesn't have anything to do with her teeth, so no worries!

lol, both my cats do it too (especially Willow, the girl in my signature), and I just thought it was because it felt good. They make the same face when I stroke their lips and cheeks, and then they do it themselves when we're not around. Didn't know about scent glands, though that makes more sense.
