My kitten Luca (male, neutered at 5 months, 10 months old)is just about my favorite thing in the world, but he is driving me crazy!! I've had him since he was 6.5 weeks old and he was sick when he came to me. He got bigger and stronger thank goodness, but he also started becoming very needy and aggressive at times. From the beginning he has followed me around, sucked on my fingers, earlobes, anything he can find, not to mention himself. Those problems have stopped, but now he gets really upset when i leave my apt or when i put him into his room at night. I would love to let him sleep with me but he keeps me up all night biting me or scratching me to the point where i am bleeding, so he can only sleep with me on the weekends...so i put him in his room and close the door. App. 5 mornings of the last month i have woken up to at least one pile of poop about 6 inches from his box, and this morning i found a paper plate(he carries this around a lot) full of pee. The box is clean and he hasn't had any other physical changes...same old Luca, so i suspect it is something psychological. Not sure what to do, I love my Luca and I am going to have him for a long time so I need to figure out what I am doing wrong. Thanks!!

When was he last at the vet? You need to check out his physical health as often inappopriate peeing and pooping is a sign of illness, and there may not be any other symptoms. I would take him for a check and a urine and fecal test.

Hi! can i ask how old is the litter and the box it might be unclean or stinky to him, or he might be acting out because you lock him away from you at night.Have you tried soft paws for his nails? This would prevent the scratching at night I dont know what to do about the biting though? Can you have another cat? This might lessen the seperation stress and also give him someone he can play rough with other than you. If the behavoir worries you though please dont wait check it out with the vet to be on the safe side

Thanks for the advice, I didn't know about the nail covers, I think that will solve a lot of our problems. He had a check up a month ago and everything looked fine, so if it persists i will go back. My boyfriend pointed out that I also changed Luca's type of litter about a month ago so maybe that could have caused some of the problems? Thanks a million
