Hi everyone,
I'm planning on picking up my new kitten today and I was just wondering what are some health related things I should keep my eyes open for? I remember hearing something about making sure the ears are clean and that there's no gunk around the eyes.
Are these correct and what else should I be watching for?
Thanks,
SpaceCat

I just wanted to say that a sick kitty can turn out to be wonderful too! I understand you probably want to stay away from one with a bad illness, and don't want to spend excessive money. But a little over a month ago when I went to pick out my kitten at a shelter, she was still with mommy and siblings in a cage. She had some siblings who were a little more active and healthier, but Marlee just captured my heart.
The first few weeks I had her she was pretty sickly, sleeping constantly, not eating/drinking alot (had to feed her some supplement with syringe), but now its been a month and 2 weeks I believe and shes wonderful! She is active, healthy, and so happy! And she is just the most loving kitty! So good luck picking out your new kitten, but if a kitty who seems a little down catches your attention, don't write them off too soon! And I'm sure someone will come and answer you who knows more about what to look for! Let us know when you find your new baby.....

Well I've already picked my cat out but before I take her home I'd just to know if there is anything I should need to be aware of. Should I ask about the shots, or this FIV thing I seeing pop up, I'm sure the vet will tell me what the procedures are.
