What meds do you use for your cat's allergies? I'm looking for the safest choices that people have found effective. Thanks!

What type of allergies? Food sensitivities, skin allergies? Read my reply to a another recent post in this health and nutrition forum. There is another topic about food allergies/ skin problems.

If you're looking for an alternative to prednisone steroids, visit this website.
www.belfield.com and read Dr Belfield's link on inflammatory bowel disease. There is a supplement that he reccommends to possibly eliminate the need for steroids. I just ordered the supplement for my cat Spotty. I just weaned him off prednisone. You might also consider consulting with a holistic veterinarian.

Please don't order meds from the internet or buy over-the-counter medication unless told to by a vet whether it be a holistic vet or otherwise. Nobody here is qualified to diagnose your kitty over the internet or this website. If your pet is not well the first thing you do is take him to a doctor (as in vet).

There are very knowledgeable people here who can guide you and offer advice on helping your kitty with minor problems, but unless you have had your kitty into a vet and know exactly what is wrong with him/her, please don't diagnose and medicate him yourself.

Thanks for your concern. Please be assured that I wasn't planning on medicating her myself, by any means. I am just trying to get an idea of what people are finding success with, so that when the Vet names it I might have more knowledge. I have an appointment on Monday with my Vet and I really love her genuine kindness and concern for animals. She has dogs and cats of her own and her husband is a Vet, as well. Whatever she recommends, I will feel secure with. Thanks again!

I'm relieved to hear that. Good luck with your kitty. It sounds as though you have a wonderful vet. Keep us posted on how she is doing.
