Hello everyone! I happened on this forum by accident today while researching a bit of information on my baby kitty. Thought I'd join to keep informed and have a database for all my ???'s. I'd like to take a minute to introduce myself and my family. My name is Lisa and we're located in Michigan. I recently adopted a new kitty from an ex-co-worker. Her cat had kittens and they needed homes. This one went to another co-worker who had her for ONE night and changed her mind, so the kitty had no home again. I decided to adopt her. I was told she was a "rare calico", but after doing some research, I've come to realize that a lot of people out there should not be mommys and daddys to animals, the lady had no idea what she was talking about. The kitty has an extra thumb on each paw giving her a mitten appearance (I know the name of the condition is poly-something). After doing research on it, I've come to discover that it's not all that quite rare and she only has it on her front paws. I also seemed to have discovered that "calico" is not a breed, but a color description. So, I don't know what kind of cat she is, probably just an American domestic mixed breed. She is beautiful coloring: gray, black, tan/khaki/cream (almost pink) and has spotting of colors all throughout. Each paw has the cream on the tips and her name is "Puppy". Her daddy was always more of a dog person and didn't like cats. Although I could tell that he loved her, he kept referring to her as a puppy. It was always "your puppy is getting into stuff", "your puppy is being noisy", "feed your puppy"... so the name just stuck. Now, he loves her as much as he loves our real dog and she absolutely adores him... can't wait to be able to post/thread pictures for you all to meet her, too!
