Seizure Meds - Effects?

Hello All -

I'm taking Rogue to the vet today for blood work, the doc wants to put her on Phenylbarbatol to control her seizures. Has anyone else had this experience? I didn't want to put her on meds since they're basically low dose tranquilizers, but her recovery from the seizures has been taking longer than previously. Can vets be unnecessary pill pushers like some regular docs?

probably sleepiness, clumsiness, dizziness, nausea, not eating, weight loss...those are the most common side effects of antiseizure meds
