I can recognize it when I hear it... but no, I don't really know it.

It's okay though, I still love my country.

I know both verses of the Australian National Anthem - once again thanks to the back of that toilet door!!! But I could guarantee that 85% of Australians don't even know there is a second verse!! I mean, most don't know who our prime minister is....although I can't blame anyone there I wish I could forget about that miserable ****.

Puerto Rico... land of rice and beans.
Okay... depends, which one of the two? There are two Puerto Rican National Anthems, depending on what's your political viewpoint.
I know both. There's the so called Revolutionary version, and the so called Commonwealth version. The Revolutionary version is sung on every single independence rally event, and is actually broadcasted on all Puerto Rican radio stations at noon, except WAPA who transmits the Commonwealth version and has been memorized by every single one in the left side of the political spectrum. The Commonwealth version, which is like 70 years newer, was made out in 1952 at the foundation of the Commonwealth, and its the one sung at all the official government ceremonies, and the Popular Democratic Party. And both, are taught at schools.

But, they both have the same music, with VERY different lyrics. If I played both on an instrument, they are one in the same. The Revolutionary version talks of independence, liberty and struggle, while the Commonwealth version talks of the pretty land in which I was born, and how pretty the place is and that Columbus exclaimed it was the beautiful place he was looking for when he showed up.

Since no one agrees in the lyrics, but agrees on the music, by now what they do most of the time is on official events like games, government ceremonies and so on, play it instrumentally, and leave the lyrics to your heart. So, yeah, we are weird like that.

I know the first verse. Don't know the other two :-( But I've never heard the other two verses sung except for in school. I'm pretty patriotic...I don't have to like what our government does to love my country.

I know the New Zealand one, we sung it at school assemblies. I prefer the Maori version though, but I don't know the words.
I learnt "O Canada" when becoming a Canadian citizen. I don't think I've heard it in French. Maybe I should go to a hockey game in Montreal?
