Too early to introduce a litter box?

The abandoned kitten that I have taken in was determined to be about 3 1/2 weeks old. The problem that I'm finding now is that she is not waiting for me to stimulate her. She seems to be urinating as soon as she wakes. I'm going through sheets way too quickly with her urinating in her basket after every nap(not to mention shirts since she's urinated on me as well). Is it too early to introduce her to a small litter box? I am very new to this as my other kittens had their mama cat to do all of this work!

Try. I introduced mine to it at about 4 weeks old. Now they are 8 weeks or so and only poop and pee in the litter box. They learned fast.

It isn't too early - so go ahead and try. While you are at it, you might also try to introduce some real goopy food (I start them off with chicken or turkey meat baby food for about a week, then mix half and half of the kitten canned food with the baby food). He will still want the bottle, but if you can get him to lap up some baby food, then you can reduce the number of times you are feeding per day.

Best of luck with this one, he sounds like a fighter.

I have been having my daughters change the litter boxes that my other kittens and April use since I feel that I may be pregnant. (I'm about 2 weeks late if that's not too much info.) Anyway, I was hoping to keep the children away from this kitten for a while since it has a bad case of roundworms. WIll it be ok for them to clean the kittens litter box? Perhaps I should take a pregnancy test to be sure, but in cased my suspisions are true;will my children get infected if they change this kittens litter?

Actually I had a small litter box in the cage with mom and babies and they used it very quickly (before they were separated for weaning at 5 weeks). What I'd do is get a shallow rectangle pie tin (tinfoil) and put about a cup or so in the pan for them to use. Don't fill it up too much.

Also if they poop outside the pan, pick that piece up and put it in the pan - the kittens will catch on that they are supposed to use the litter.

I did the same thing. Worked great.
