Does Deworming have any aftereffects? Yesterday I got my kitty dewormed and today she seems to be in very low spirits, sleeping all the day and also she has diahorrea. Is it deworming or something else? I've not been overfeeding her neither have I given her an diahorrea inducing food.

How do I check her temperature, to know wether she has fever or not...

Depending on what was used and where you got it?

The worming medicine giving is toxic to the worms so therefore some kitties do feel punky afterward. Plus it causes them to evacuate their bowels which can also be tiring or if dealing with roundworms they will puke them up in piles. If you got the meds from your vets good for you! If you bought over the counter products and administered them yourself, call your vet.

The only way to tell if the kitten has a temperature is to take it rectally. They make special pet thermometers for that. You want to lubricate the tip and go in slowly and not very far. Leave it in for 3 minutes. They do now also have for purchase ear thermometers for pets but they are quite spendy at the moment.

MA, would this mean that it's normal for some kitties to have large BM's immdeiately after deworming? Lola just got dewormed for hookworms and she had 2 somewhat large bowel movements that afternoon.

Lola was also pretty lethargic immediately after he deworming. She had perked back up within about 24 hours, but she generally is pretty subdued after a trip to the vet. She hates going there.

I dont understand, its been 2 days now since she was dewormed and today she has been sleeping for 24hrs. I mean I know pablo is a sleepy kitty but this is weird, no play time, no curious escapades, just loooong coma type sleeps. I am worried....i am calling the vet tomorrow morning eitherway...but i am scared. could be anything seirous?
