And as far as I can tell, there's nothing to spend any money on, so spending money shouldn't be an issue. It is near Point Peelee, a wonderful natural area, where birdwatchers from all over the world congregate.

I'd check on the passport regulations; I have never ever been asked for a passport at the border, by either Canadian or American customs or immigration.
My mom can actually drive me to Detroit but now after I get to Detroit how would I get into canada? Because her and her mom can pick me up like anywhere but they can't get into detroit.

Why can't they get into Detroit? All you have to do is drive across a bridge.

Her parents can't cross the border for some reason.

And if your mom could get you to Detroit, why couldn't she just take you to meet up with them in Windsor?

I think you're making this needlessly complicated.

You don't need a passport.

You won't need a passport to get into Canada. I've never needed one to get into or out of Canada so that will save like $80 there.....

I know the trip may be off but just thought I'd add that the passport issue is still under study. For years, we had the longest undefended border in the world. The 911 happened and we have all gone a little nuts. Now I do want to keep out terrorists (and nearly lost my sister in NYC that day) but some of the way measures are carried out are just silly. It is a chore to go to the airport now, sigh.

Anyway - poassports are not required and depending on how these talks pan out, may be or may not be. All you need is a driver's licence or health care or birth certificate, at least two, one with a picture. Some airlines require a passport - not Air Canada tho. I find it best to have a Passport since you never know when you will need it.

Because she's weird..I'm assuming mom wouldn't mind taking me to Detroit and if not her I'm sure my sister might..I can most definitly find a ride to Detroit one way or another. I live in Mahomet and I don't think Detroit is all that far away.....or is it? I don't know I'm confusing myself now

Thank you all who are helping me out by the way.

It's not a city, and it's not really close to a city. It's a tiny rural community, the closest place (other than Windsor or London), is Leamington. It's in the middle of the tobacco farming country.

The closest place would probably be Leamington as far as bus stops, but even Detroit is a good 6-7 hours from where you live then another hour or so to Ruthven past that.

From Champaign, IL (which looks closest to you) to Windsor, ON, you can get the greyhound for $100 return but it takes close to 15-16 hours with layovers in Chicago. You could get a 15% discount on greyhound as a student.

As for the passports - they are trying to introduce mandatory passports between the US and Canada so I guess just check closer to the time, although they will probably allow a grace period even then to allow people to get new passports etc.

As far as the passport goes this is the latest from the government:
CANADA – Passport or proof of U.S. citizenship such as a birth certificate, naturalization certificate, and photo ID required. Minors (under 16) traveling alone or in someone else's custody must present written authorization, signed before a notary, from the parent(s) or guardian. Visas are not required. Canadian immigration officials at ports of entry will issue persons planning to stay longer than 180 days a visitor's record. Anyone with a criminal record (including a DWI charge) should contact the Canadian Embassy or nearest Consulate General before travel. U.S. citizens entering Canada from a third country must have a valid passport. For student or business travel, check with the Canadian Embassy, 501 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20001 (202/682-1740) or nearest Consulate General: CA (213/346-2701), MI (313/567-2085), NY (212/596-1700 or 716/858-9501), or WA (206/443-1375). Its on their website, sometimes if you call the canadian one their computer won't list the smaller US stops maybe its the same the other way around.

if you look on greyhound.com and get the route # you can call and ask them for the price with the routes and they find it, or you can book online

I think I might be flying there cuz my mom doesn't want me to ride the bus. Though I don't mind riding the bus since it's cheaper. My mom is talking about flying me out of detroit to windsor. EEEK I'm so scared I don't wanna fly!!

On May 31st I'll be in Indianapolis (so if any of you Indies wish to see me before I leave off let me know
) I will be leaving to go to canada from Indianapolis, and will be landing in Windsor. I will stay until June 14th..then I'll fly back and my mommy will pick me up and take me home
This will only cost..$300.00 at least.

Thank you everyone for all your help I really appreciate it! And please wish me luck because this isn't certain yet! If all goes well Money-Wise this is what will be happening!! (That's why I will be saving my birthday money) I'll make sure I take plenty of pictures of my trip if I end up going! My friend has a computer too so I'll keep in touch.
