I adopted a little guy this weekend, his name is Murphy. He was fine fri and sat but sun morning I noticed he had an eye discharge.Nothing heavy its pretty watery and looks clear but when I wipe it with tissue it has a slight yellow-green tinge to it. He seems fine otherwise he is eating, playing, using litter box etc.... Any suggestions I e-mailed his foster mommy but she hasnt e-mailed back yet, I searched her previous threads and seen that one of her cats recently had a respitory infection I hope he doesnt have it!!!!! I hope its just a cold someone please help me tell me what you think it is.

I think you should run the little guy by the vet. He probably just has a little upper respiratory infection that can be cleared up with antibiotics. Cats can catch them easily when they're stressed out, and moving to a new house is definately stressful! Good luck with your new little one, I'm sure he'll be fine shortly.

I would just keep an eye on her for any signs of stuffiness, runny noses, eye goopies out of the ordinary, funny behavior, etc.

I know he probably needs to see the vet but is there any chance it will clear up on its own?????? money is pretty tight( i spent most of it on adopting him) My vet will work with me on costs they have in the past I was just wondering if it doesnt get any worse if it would resolve on its own???? just a question.

I would take your kitty to the vet OR can you call?? Sounds like he might benefit from some meds. When I adopted my kitten she had some sort of eye infection. The vet just prescribed me some cream (looked like vasoline) to put in her eyes three times a day. Cleaned it up right away and I only had to pay for the prescription.
Apparently the eye gunkies is kinda normal with kittens. From mom licking them in areas and then licking their eyes??? Seems like thats what the vet said was going on with my kitty....or could be yours has a cold.
Hope he feels better soon.

You are doing the right thing to let the vet look. You know it is better to be safe.
Cats can be sick and really hide their problems.
