two weeks ago my girlfriend had a neighbor give her a kitten cuz she didnt have the money to take care of all of them. two vets just responded "shes to young" and basically pushed us out of there office when we asked for help cuz neither of us were too up on kittencare at the time.... so now shes around 6weeks alittle less id guess. the last 3days minnie would go poo in the litterbox and one or 2 turds would come out (with some struggle and noisemaking) and she would finally give up and leave like an inchlong turd hanging from her ass.... so we would chase her around and remove it with a tissue but she cant seem to squeese and clip the poo...? (alittle poo background: the first week we had her she would diarehhea everywere and finally began doing it in the litterbox, we switched food and it was semi hard/semi wet for a few days and now it is super hard, a halfinch wide, and dark) we switched food friday night and still the smae thing today. we left more water dishes because one site led us to believe she was dehydrated and the vet doesnt give us the time of day since shes under 8 weeks.... someone help cuz minnie is beginning to cry after pooing and seems uncomfortable

I would give her a half teaspoon of olive oil for now, and call some different vets offices. My vet saw my new babies the first time when they were only 10 days old.

Not olive oil, use mineral oil and not so much, 1/4 tsp should be sufficient. Sometimes it just takes a while for their system to catch up with them. Some kittens especially bottle babies are born under-developed sometimes.

Please refer to www.kitten-rescue.com for assistance with your young one.

The dehydration needs to be taken care of ASAP. Is she drinking enough water? Here is a recipe I found for homemade pedialyte. It helped Moogle absorb fluid better and he liked it better than water.

Pedialyte

What kind of food is your baby eating? Some commercially prepared kitten formulas cause constipation. Also go a bit easy on changing foods in rapid succession as it can cause gastric problems in little ones because of their fragile tummies. Select a good one and try it out, use that one on your kitten for a few days, and see how her tummy handles it. If you try too many too soon and there is a problem somewhere, you wont be able to easily identify which thing didnt agree with the kitten.

As for the mineral oil, see if you can get one of those plastic syringes (no needle) or dropper (which you can find usually in the pharmacy section of places like Walgreens/Rite Aid/Walmart, etc) and do it that way so that you can ensure it gets inside of your kitten. Definately not in the water because it would just kinda create a mineral oil slick on the water surface

And of course, call around to find a vet who will help you guys help her and not just turn you away. With any animal, especially young ones, its always good to have medical help. Good luck and Godspeed in your adventures with your little one.
