Anybody else have fears that they get made fun of and called "Childish" about? Mine are..

- I'm afraid of closets. I can't go to sleep at night with my closet door opened it HAS to be closed otherwise I'll lay there staring at it and whimpering.
- I'm DEATHLY afraid of the dark! Whenever I'm in a room and the lights go out I SCREAM and start running to find some light..this is dangerous because there has been times where I've hurt myself..and even other people. At night I sleep with my lava lamp on.
-I'm afraid of the "monster underneath the bed." When I get up at night to go to the bathroom..I make sure my feet are a good distance away from underneath the bed when I'm coming out..and I JUMP to get back in.

All in all..I'm pretty much afraid of anything that has to do with the dark. I get made fun of about this ALL the time. It really bugs me that people will pick on me about my phobias. It makes me laugh when it's the people that are afraid of stuff like, heights, spiders, snakes that are making fun of me.

I just wanna know..am I alone with these fears? Am I the only person who is 17 years old that is still afraid of her closet?

Not at all, I'm 27 years old and I have some of the same fears. If I'm alone I never sleep in the dark. When Jeff moved out of our old house for his new job I was alone in the house for 4 months. I slept with the lights on the whole time. I'm also afraid of going outside alone at night...that fear isn't completley unreasonalbe though..it is very possible to run into a bear where I live.

I have a weird fear- I had the feeling of biting a towel with my teeth. Just thinking about it gives me the willies.

One of my friends is afraid of bread- swear to god. She gets mad if you make her walk down that aisle of the supermarket. She is also afraid of spiders and put a big dent in my arm when one dived in front of us unexpectidly.

My closet doors are always closed because i get nightmares if they are open, that goes for drawers also.

I will not sleep in the dark by my self if i am home alone

I am VERY uncomfortable around guns or other weapons. That's not very childish but I am even afraid of BB guns.

I am also afraid of standing near the track in the subway. I always stand right agains the wall because I'm afraid of falling in and getting run over.

No, Lil_Axl_Gurl, you are definitely not alone. I am 33 years old and still afraid of the dark.

I am also afraid of heights, if I'm not moving fast. (Like standing on top of a tall building and looking down...no way!!!) But, if I'm on a roller coaster, it doesn't bother me...(I think it's 'cause by the time I realize how far up I am, I'm already back down at the bottom).
I am very, very afraid of spiders....I have these visions of them jumping and landing on my face!
Weird, I know.
I am afraid that I ran out of my fears....

uggghhh definitely spiders!

Sleeping alone in a house - I will get up and make sure the doors are locked like 10 times before I can actually sleep.

Rollercoasters - I am fine on any other ride - but rollercoasters scare me.

And my worst fear - CLOWNS - no idea why - they just completely freak me out

same here!!

I am also afraid of elevators. When they stop and they move down a little to get even with the floor, that scares the hell out of me. When I worked at the football stadium at the Univ. of Okla. we had to take the (very old, creaky)elevator to take large items to the upper floors. I was on it with my supervisor once and actually started crying. I felt like such a baby. It was so embarrassing. I would rather walk 10 flights of stairs than take an elevator. I am actually getting a little bit better though.

I am afraid of windows at night. When it starts getting dark, I close everything! I always feel, even with them closed, that someone is standing outside looking in.

I'm not scared of reptiles or animals.
Not really scared of the dark or open closets as I know nothing is there.
I do, however, have a fear of subway tracks. I never get too close and when the train is approaching I try to go as far back as possible because I'm afraid it might hit me

I am not "afraid" of heights, I just dont like them.
I'm not afraid of clowns because they're just moron entertainers who failed vocational school.
I am not afraid of elevators but I dont like them because I once got stuck so I would rather take the stairs.
If I am in a room with a bunch of people and the lights go out its more arousing than it is scary. Heh.

I dont know if this counts as a phobia but whenever I am walking outside I look behind my shoulders every minute. Paranoia

I used to do home visits with the elderly- one lady COLLECTED clown figurines. It was pretty creepy. Another lady collected clocks- she had between 100-200 and a lot of Jesus motifs.

I used to be afraid of the dark, but it doesn't bother me too much now (unless I've been watching a horror film!).

My Dad has a phobia of melons

No one ever made fun of me for mine, but it was sooooo horrible that I guess they wouldn't!

I was terrified of being kidnapped and taken away from my parents. I used to have panic attacks and Mum and Dad would have to soothe me back to sleep. I was also really scared of being sucked in by a cult, and again, taken away from my family.

These are obviously not very sensible fears - especially the cult one - but I really had a problem with it!

Stingy winged things. Wasps, bees, hornets... I'll do just about anything to get away from them.

*shudder*
