So a while back, I noticed the kits had broken through the meshy bottom of my box spring and liked to play inside it. I'll fix that, I thought, and turned it over, put a fitted sheet across the bottom, and put it back on the bed. This morning I wake up to Jack inside there. I'm not sure if Henry was too and she got back out or if it was just him. I've been shaking a treat bag trying to get him to come out as I still haven't figured out how he got in there! I don't know if he doesn't know how to get out or if he just still wants to be in there. If he doesn't come out pretty soon I'll have to take the bed apart again. Sigh. I'll have to see if I can rig it a little better.

We had the exact same problem here!! Only difference is that ours uses the bed in the spare bedroom! Since theres hardly anyone ever sleeping in there and when they are Madden's not allowed in there, I just let him play in it. He's not hurting it, and the hole was already in the mesh, so he hasn't torn anything up. He just likes to play in there! I'm sure Jack will come out. Pop one end of the fitted sheet off so that he could get out that way if he is stuck (which I doubt that he is). He probably just thinks its awfully funny to watch you try to figure out how to get him out!! LOL :p

Our beds have also been creatively altered. I just leave them be, they feel secure in there, and they come out when they are hungry or in need of company.

Yeah, I think he just wanted to be there as the treat bag and the regular food shaking didn't bring him running. I did finally get him out. I don't really mind him being in there since he's not really going to hurt anything, but the scratchy noises he makes while I'm trying to sleep get annoying!

This is what makes our cats so much fun. They are full of surprises.

My cats have done that too, and although it is OK, I agree with the annoying part. They ripped the fabric "siding" off the box spring; I recommend tacking it back up with some hot glue. I have done this on about every mattress we have, and it has worked very well. You can also hot glue a section of fabric on to where the rip is, to temporarily thwart his efforts. Preferably a very thick fabric, to make it harder to claw through.

I understand that this is a very cozy place to hide, but the humans need some sleep!
