Our beloved blood red fire shrimp, Fang, died either last night or this morning
.

Last night, I came home and fed the tank. Normally, he would rush out from his "cave" to eat, but he did not last night. I moved around some of the live rock and finally found him- it looks like maybe he was crushed under some of the rock. I think our tiger cowrie is to blame as they are notorious rock movers. Anyway, I'm just kinda bummed that we lost him. He was doing so well- he'd already molted in the tank twice!

*Sigh*. I hope I didn't misplace this post; wasn't sure if shrimp go to the Rainbow Bridge as well....but I sure hope he's at least under the bridge in the Rainbow Sea
.

Awww! I'm so sorry. I know how you feel. We came home from vac a few weeks ago and Charmer and Sid had swam up under the rainbow bridge. In my case I think it had something to do with the heater somehow getting set to the max!

Poor Fang! He was beautiful!

Aww, thank you so much guys. It's nice when people understand how sad it can be to lose a fish- even if they aren't of the mammal variety! But I guess it's part of the cycle of aquatic life

Condolences on the loss of Fang. He was very beautiful. As for him going over (or under!) the bridge, I think we humans divide up God's creatures more than He ever did. I'm sure God watched Fang's passing, and welcomed him home.

Sorry to hear of Fang's loss. No matter what type of pet they are it is so hard to loose them. I cried for 2 days when my beloved red betta Bob died.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss of Fang.

He was beautiful. I am sure he is at the Rainbow Sea(I love the idea...never really thought about it
). My daughter just lost a little baby puffer fish about a week ago. That was very upsetting. He was so adorable and she loved him a lot. She even tried to get a picture of him but he was so tiny that he just kinda blended in with the gravel.
Thanks for sharing your Fang with us.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I believe, if we're open to the possibility, all of God's creatures can touch our lives in one way or another. RIP Fang.
