Mooch is ok with baths, but she insists on splashing the water in thier bowl all the time! She'll walk up and slpash and then take a few sips. Usually by the time she's done splashing half the water is gone though. We've been keeping thier bowl on a folded towel so we don't slip on the floor and things.

Does anyone know why she might do this? She does like to watch water in the shower and things. Maybe she just likes seeing it move? Pumpkin used to do this some when he was small (more so just pick up his bowl a little and then watch the water move excitedly.). Any ideas on how to stop it or at least keep my floor dry? If she just likes drinking moving water maybe a fountain would do the trick.

I don`t know why she would be so intrested in moving water...but neither of my cats are water haters like some. I don`t know how they`s be getting dunked ...or bathed...but they love to play with a water faucet if I leave it dripping for them.
Probably the towel idea is the best for keeping your floor dry...maybe put one of those rubber boot trays underneith too.
I`ve never seen a fountain for cats...but I have heard some mention them on here, If I ever get to a big city pet store i`ll have to take a look-see.

My cat Dinah LOVES water! She actually jumps in the shower with me sometimes o_O She used to splash the water out of her bowl all the time, but she's stopped by now. When she did that, I bought a cloth placemat to put under her water and food bowls. It absorbs the water that she splashes out, and I wash it every week so it doesn't get all moldy.

Melichus used to do the sticking your paw in the water thing and splashing it around. We thought maybe he was trying to verify exactly how far away the water was.

What might help, is to get a fountain like you've been thinking of, and then fill the bowl with marbles or those glass globs that people use in flower vases until there's really only a little bit of water above the marbles. Just a thought.

Thats a good idea. And I have some already! (Plus I think it would be pretty!)
