Last month my family had a hard decision to put our 6 yr old diabetic cat to sleep and ever since then our other cat seems very vocal and wants to go outside more(to look for sadie i think)and she's been losing weight, I'm wondering if she's depressed on losing her baby after 6 yrs and if we should get a new cat???? I don't want to replace sadie but squirt seems lonely and nobody here during the day anymore to play with, bathe or sleep I know she misses her. any sugestions to getting another cat????

I would recommend either getting another adult or two kittens. (The reason I say two kittens is that they can keep each other busy when she is not in the mood for their hijinks.)

It sounds like Squirt is really missing her friend/baby. Cats do grieve too. If she's so used to having a companion, I would definitely recommend getting another kitty companion for her.

I'll move this to Behavior.
