There is something weird about my apartment.

I usually get up before 7am but lately I've been sleeping a little bit longer. Very often, when I sleep past 7am, something weird wakes me up.

For a few days, it was the backup power for my computer that was beeping. It happened a few days in a row, always a little after 7am. It's supposed to only beep when it doesn't have enough power. But there was no problem with the power.

And this morning, it was the phone. The phone rang a little after 7am and there was nobody on the line. Just a beep. The phone rang 3 more times within 10 minutes. Now it's done.

This is getting kind of freaky!

If it gives you any kind of comfort, the beeping on the other end of the phone may be someone trying to send a fax. That happens ALL the time at my parents house and it's SO annoying. Apparently someone has given out my parents number on accident as a fax number. One night the person trying to send the fax didn't get the picture that the reason their fax wasn't going through was because IT WAS THE WRONG NUMBER and they KEPT trying for literally an HOUR! So it's definitely a possibility that that is what's happening with the phone situation. Just thought maybe that would help ease your mind a bit.

I guess you're right. That's what I thought too at first but I thought that faxes made more noise than just one little beep. But I was probably confused with modem noises.
It probably was a fax. Not too sure who would be sending a fax at 7am on a Saturday

Sometimes my parents get faxes at 11pm! They always assume it's someone in a different time zone or even another country. I would definitely have been freaked out by all of that happening as well!

What, like someone keeling over right as their alarm was going off at 7:00?

That situation with faxes coming in to a voice line!! We had a positively horrible time with that a while ago. Somehow our number got onto a list of fax numbers distributed on a CD to various companies interested in mass mailing by fax. It was a nightmare!

There are regulations (I'm sure Rob could tell you every single one of them by now!) about such faxes -- such as not before 7 am, recipient's time, and a similar cut-off time in the evening, though I don't remember what it was. Eventually, with a lot of help from the phone company, and the CRTC (the regulator of communications activities in Canada), we managed to get it pretty much stopped. We still get the occasional one, and Rob still has his log, so that repeat offenders can be identified.

One of the spinoffs of that, though, is that we now have call display, and mostly don't even pick up the phone unless we recognise the caller or have time to be curious.

Hope your "ghost" doesn't get to be a pest!!

I used to have a situation with 12am. I used to HATE not being in bed and asleep before 12.

Why?

Because my closet door liked to open by itself after 12. Finally I just put something infront of it. I've also woken up to a dim light on and the vision of my walls bleeding..scared the crap outta me so I turned the light on and everything was gone. Oh and lets not forget when I woke up with a body in my bed and I turned the light on and it was gone.

I'm so glad we moved out of that house.

I'm feeling safer now. Not that I really believed there was a ghost... I think I was just freaked out because phone calls at unusual hours scare me (I always think it's my parents calling because someone died).
I had one or two other phone calls with no one on the line before and they had scared me because originally I thought maybe someone was checking to see if I'm home.

Under the cats, mostly.
That's cool
Welcome it wtih open arms eh? It's not that often you have someone trying to get in touch with you from so far away!! Seems like it's just someone who doesn't want you to oversleep and be late for anything

Exactly my thought......
If I were you and it bothers you, pick up some dried sage and do a nice cleanse of your apartment. Light the sage and hold it up to all corners of your rooms and say out loud things like, "all the fear will go away, only nice helpful things will live in this house, etc."

My husband and I just moved out of a house that was really weird like this!! Our television would change channels out of no where, dishes flew out of the dish drainer (WITH FORCE) from time to time, our gas stove burners would light by themselves occasionally and a couple of times when we were in bed someone would run across the living room!!! It sounded like they would run through the living room and stop when they got to the linnoleum. At this point the dog would growl because he heard it to...then you could hear them run back the other way! It was soooo weird!! I'm glad we don't live there anymore!!
