I'm praying that I'm not allergic to my baby, but I could be. :p I've never been allergic to cats before, and I'm not allergic to dogs either. But ever since we've gotten Pouncer my allergies are sneaking up on me when I play with her. The thing is, sometimes my eyes will get watery/I'll start sneezing with a runny nose- and sometimes I won't! I don't get it. I don't think I'm allergic to her, but something's causing my allergies to heat up around her.

My boyfriend suggested that it might be because she likes to get into impossible holes and corners, and gets dust into her fur, which gets to my allergies with I play with her... I'm not sure, though. Argh. Allergies are so annoying.

You are likely to develop a tolerance to her over time. In the meantime, take Claritin or another antihistamine and all should be well.

When I was down to 1 17 year old cat - I adopted a kitten. She got into so much and was so playfull she had everything in the house dusted with about 2 weeks. She is black so when she'd come out of her previously dusty spots - we could tell she was the dust cloth.
Yep the allergies acted up a bit - and adding the 3rd one did too. Now the only time mine acted up was at the shelter. Even though Ziggy's coat was shiney it still felt "dandery" - a week or so of brushing and lots of loving - I am happy to say the dander has subsided.

Hang in there!

My husband is somewhat allergic to cat dander, as well. We just have to keep the floors and couch well-vacuumed and keep the air purifiers on! I know that some people give their kitties a bath once a month just to help with the allergies (although cats don't really need baths unless they get into something dirty).

I also have a friend who has dogs and is highly allergic to cats, but she actually got used to her boyfriend's (now husband's) roommate's two cats, after being around them so much. She grew to be OK around them, but she still has the allergy around other foreign cats.

thanks for all the help.

well... she seems to be less "allergic" after a bathing, so i'm guessing it's the dust she collects over the week at home, while i'm away at school. :p hehe. guess i'd better dust around the house more. it'd make mom happy... :p
