Well...Emmet is now going to be on an IVD(wet) and Royal Canin S/O(lower urinary tract support).....

Anyways two vets have so far told me that IVD is great for the other cats...and my present vet who I trust a lot said S/O will be a great diet for the other cats as well.........so i will trust them on this........

Here is my question.....both these foods are dissolution formula, made to acidify urine to prevent crystal formation...they also give the cat anurge to drink more water, which in turn flushes out their bladders better.......

So i know that a big part of keeping healthy kindneys in humans is to drink lots of water...since kindeys get mad at anything else.....I assume that this is similar in cats.........

In that case am I preventing possible Kidney problems in their future by feeding them this food now.....I understand things happen regardless of the precautions we take..........but is it possible that this MAY prevent certain kidney issues????

I thought about this in the shower...and it kinda made me happy....just wanted to know if there was any truth to my theory........

thanx.....

Certainly water is good for kidney health - I am sure it is the same in cats as humans. I have had kidney infections in the past and my doctor always tells me to drink more water. Can't answer about that specific food though.

I know the royal canin also helps with interstitial cystitis, but I don't think this forestalls crf. Good question to ask your vet though
