Hi, I've been using this site to get advice about my cat. However I have another question. My hamsters have just had 3 babies. How much water do they need?

Um, when I had a hamster I had a special water bottle that I attached to the cage. I would change it when it got low. I don't think hamsters drink a lot b/c they are desert animals.

all animals should ahve an everlasting bowl of water, or the water bottle thing.. as long as its being changed and washed everyday.
Momma will take care of the babies herself.. but make sure she seperates males from females in about 3 weeks or so.. or else they will start reproducing again.

One time, when I was a teenager I bought a male hamster on a thursday night, Saturday morning that hamster had 9-10 little ones! I was floored. They were so cute, and grew really fast, but the mother did turn viscious on some of them, and since they were so much smaller, they had no problem fitting through the bars of the cage! so if you don't have her in an aquarium, they'll split! I suggest doing an internet search, I never trust the pet store for advice, have you noticed that they're all pimply faced kids? LOL good luck!

Also make sure they are in a quiet area in your house. leave them along as much as possible. If the mother gets upset she will eat the babies.
