Hello ALL,

I was wondering if anybody else toilet trained their cat. We started toilet training 2 month ago. I have two siblings. So the girl picked it up right away and started jumping on top of the toilet and sitting there with all four on the rim. We had an aluminum tray on the seat and then covered it with the toilet rim. So she seemed to be fine. The male also seemed to pick up the toilet training. Then we cut a small hole in the aluminum tray and they were still doing well. Then I made the hole a little bigger and the male refused to go onto the toilet and started going on the floor right by the toilet. I figured we made the whole too big, because in toilet training eventually the whole is so big they have to sit on the rim with all four. So I started from scratch. I put a new aluminum tray without a hole and they both liked it. This week female refuses to go to the toilet. She found a spot in the hallway and does all of her business there. It's weird because when the male refused to go it was because the hole was too big and he couldn't understand what to do with his legs. But she knows what to do but she just won't go there. Today I put her in the toilet 3 times she did not go. She ran into the hallway and went there, like on purpose. Could it be that she does not like the smell of her brother and doesn't go there. Unfortunately I do not have two toilets in the house for them to use one individualy.

If anyone knows what that behavior means
I would love your comment. Don't be shy speak up.

Thanks in advance.

Inappropriate elimination happens when toilet training goes astray. I suggest you go back to litter boxes.

We did go back to the litter box. But I still kept the training toilet on. So now they go into both litter box and toilet. I guess it all depends on their mood. This morning the male jumped onto the toilet assumed the position then noticed the litter box on the floor jumped down and used the litter box. I'm thinking to give my toilet training a month off and then try again.
