Several years ago, my dh and I were talking to a friend at his apartment when his cat, Rama, jumped up on his bed, looked at him and proceeded to pee on his jacket. We were dumbfounded.. He had just been scolded by our friend and we thought he was just mad.

I cannot believe the vet would say this is normal. It cant possibly be normal, my first thought was to check for UTI, I hope all turns out well that just still blows my mind.

my wife had picked up her cat, how i was out of town.
so for 2 months it was just her and broni.

first night i was home sleepingin bed, broni did that to me.
I hissed at him, he went under the bed and stayed there for the next day, But has never did it since.

Also Easy did that once, but he was very young, less then 16 weeks, and was in hyper play mode. That is the only time i can think of him making a mistake.

Harry did that to my partner one night. We were sleeping after a night out and next minute my partner woke up with pee on his legs. I think it happened because he was wearing pyjama bottoms that H had previously peed on when training. We got everything cleaned, threw out the PJ bottoms and it hasn't happened since.

I couldn't help but laugh at the time but I wouldn't have been laughing if it was me!!

My 1 year old pregnant cat has done this twice now in the past 2 months.
In the past she had a issue with pooping under my finance's computer desk, we felt that it might be that should couldn't get out, so on and so forth.

After figuring out that she does indeed know how to get the door open, now shes starting the peeing.

Its usually early in the morning. She will pee at the foot of the bed (on the bed keep in mind) where my finance is usually sleeping.

I live with my parents and they dont thoroughly enjoy my love for cats, so I try to keep her in my room.

Just curious to know, is it the pregnancy, stress, anxiety, just pure hatred for my finance (haha), or what. I know shes healthy and so on. Just not sure if shes trying to tell me something more. I suspect that my step father might be mistreating her (is why I keep her in my room and keep good tabs on where she is and if shes safe). Just curious.

Also being that she is pregnant, shes just started to get fully plumped up and her nipples are past "pinking" but shes not got milk coming out on its own yet. Curious if this might have something to do with it, and when i should expect little ones so that she doesnt decide to go outside to have them

Thanks

I do not know what to do. My 3 yr old female cat named calleigh has started peeing on me in my sleep. It started about 6-8 months ago and happens for a few nights at a time. I've done everything I can think of to see if it helps. I've made sure the litter box is clean, she has food and water, and most important that she gets lots of love and attention. I'm not sure, but it might have started when she was pregnant and her only kitten was breech and didn't make it. After that, one of my other female cats gave birth to a litter of 3. I've read many things on this, but not sure exactly why or how to correct the issue. could she be marking me as hers when the other female goes into heat? I do plan on getting them both spayed, but that isn't in my budget at the moment as I'm on a fixed income. Any suggestions would be greatly apprecieated.

Thanks,

Our cat Tillie is also peeing on us.  She is a VERY affectionate cat.  We make sure her litter is clean, she has enough food and water.  Recently she comes up to us every so often and pees directly on us.  Once it was the wee hours of the morning, she turned her behind on my head and pissed right on my hair and the back of my head.  This is very odd and we're struggling why she would do this.  We love her so much and we're trying very hard to understand her.

The problem is ideally we would take her to a vet but we leave in Arctic Quebec.  This is a remote fly-in only community that we live in and we're rather in a bind.  The only time we'll get out to a vet is when we take our Xmas vacations in December!  Yikes I hope it can wait!!!!

Haha yeah just worse, the night of my sweet sixteen, my cat kilala pooped on my chest. Cats are vengeful, my cat did it because we spent the entire day running around for the party, no one bothered to even acknowledge her. So she is mad about something

More than likely, she is stressed, or is trying to mark you for some reason... If you're concerned, definitely consult the vet for alternatives to calm her down, or make sure it isn't a UTI.

I kow this is a old thread but my old girl started doing this last year. She is about 10. She has no litter pan problems.

At least in her case it has bee extreemly clear she was mad at me. The first time she was going to get a skin tumor removed so she could ot have food past a certain time. She started getting louder and louder and pacing whe she was ot given her usual food at dinner - I giver hers to her when I have mine. i went and started to crochet. She jumped up on me still complaining but I outright ignored her and then she squatted right on me and my crochet and woosh.

The next time also involved me igoring her while crocheting - she just wanted attention ad did the same thig - then took off like a bullet and hid knowing she did wrong.

My son commented 'mom she's pissed at you' lol

I think he nailed it.

I was just trying to sleep and ignoring her again. She wanted me to get up with her. I was sleeping during her time to be sitting on me while I work at the computer. She was complaining loudly and nose boping me then 'woosh' and she took off.

Now she is hiding.

She's really too smart for her own good. If I try to give her food she does not like she will act like she is trying to bury it i imagiary litter ad star at me while doing it.

LOL silly me - I forgot the main question.

How ca I deal with her temper without gettig pee'd on?

Its very bizzare that she is domiating me by pee'n on me this way. It is get up at 2am if she decides that is when she wats attention or get pee'd on. If I lock her out of the room she just sits there and scratches the door and wails so that is ot much of a option. She is extreemly attached seriously abused rescue that had to have her tail amputated as a result of the abuse. I work from home and she is never more than a few feet from me unless I have to go out for something. Then she is sitting in the window watching for me to get home.

If she has to rule, so be it. She is my child. I'd like to find some way to work with her, tho. My boyfriend is not as understanding tho he would be out the door before her.

A cat I had years ago peed on me once when I moved with him to a new apartment. It was the first night. I think he didn't like being moved.

One should rule out UTIs, but I have known of other cases of cats peeing on their owners just to make it known that they don't like something.

The same ting has happened to me. Our 4 year old female feral cat with severe food allergies started peeing on us at night, could it be because she has taken steroids on and off? Or could she be marking her territory? I took her to the vet and all blood work and examination came back ok other than the food allergy. What can I do? Any suggestions?

This is an old thread originally - but the problem is there for a few of us.  So, given that most of the comments in this thread are 'me too' without an answer as to why (or misinformed answers), here's some info.  And yep, I deal with this with our boy.

1.  Cats are not vengeful.  Nor do they do this because they are mad at you (because this action would be premeditated and therefore vengeful - cats aren't vengeful).  When they pee on you, or somewhere/thing that smells strongly of you (like your bed or pillow), it is because they find it COMFORTING.  The mingling of their smell with beloved yours.  So the reasons that prompt the action will include anything that makes them stressed, or frightened, or alarmed, or insecure.  Like getting yelled at.  Like being sick (with any type of sickness, including food allergies, being 'off colour', or on meds that make them feel not quite right).  Like having beloved you absent/preparing to be absent.  Like having a yapping dog going in the neighbourhood all day.  Like someone in their household being sick etc, etc.

There are some fewer instances when cats pee on things belonging to a person they 'don't like'.  In most cases, if you view this as a plea to like them, or a plea to mitigate this stressful situation of a person who stresses them, and then the human in question acts in every way to build/repair a relationship with them, it resolves.  Again, this is not vengence.  It is a stress reaction - and they are identifying the stressor and trying to 'mitigate' it!

Finally, the only other reason I can think of that causes peeing on me when I'm in bed - it is a new thought, as I have been battling the problem every night for 5 weeks now, in a cat who has done it off and on for 4.5years - is that for super smart cats, they maybe could be doing it to get something they want from you.  I am wondering if my boy has recently figured out that I GET UP when I feel him get on me around 5/6am for a pee.  He knows nothing else will get me up!  He could just be this smart...so I won't be rewarding the behaviour with interaction.  Nor exacerbating any stress by reaction.  I'm going to try what I did when he was waking me up with noise - gently closing him out of the room.  We'll see!  Like I said, this is a new thought...And I think he has just figured this out after a period of stress weeing (he was sick and there's been absences in the household).  I won't close him out of the room altogether however, given that he is super sensitive; I certainly don't want to add a stress that will be a fresh thing he needs to 'feel better' about!

2.  How to fix.  Fix the stress.  And also reduce the stress burden that they carry even once the problem is being dealt with - so stress busters like playing lots with them, giving them their territory and furniture, loves in a language appropriate to them, feeding them enough (particularly if they have a fear from past food scarcity - obviously when fasting for a procedure, you can't do this, but you can be aware they will probably pee and protect the bed and up the stress busters).  Put feliway diffusers on.

3.  ELIMINATE the smell reminders that can trigger an 'oh, this needs refreshing' response.  Unfortunately, I have found that this means new bedding.  I have even got a new mattress, and a mattress protector so I don't have to get another new mattress!  Doonas and sheets however, do get ditched.  You can of course try and clean them with a urine specific cleaner.  These take quite a few days.  I have also tried the drycleaners (so far so good) - BUT I also had to then take the doona to the laundrymat to clean out the chemical smell, as both cats immediately jumped on the doona finding it too fascinating for my comfort.  i used the laundrymat as those big machines are needed to use an adequate amount of water (our modern water friendly ones just dont do the job).  Be aware that certain chemicals and fabrics can also attract cats to wee on them.  I can't buy one pillow brand - every single time, almost straight away!!  And down-filled doonas are known to attract cats to pee on them.

Good luck everyone!!

You could try feliway defusers in the room as well as new bed linen, feliway could help if it's a stress related problem.
